DSHS TIA IT Data Management - Journey (Data Integration and Reports Developer)
The Data Integration and Reporting (DIR) team is a unit of the Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) and Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), Administration Operations which is part of the Technology Innovation Administration (TIA) that supports ALTSA and DDA.
This team is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining reports and data feeds that supports all divisions of ALTSA and DDA. The DIR team is a part of the Data Services (DS) section, which is responsible for analyzing data needs, developing report solutions to support ALTSA and DDA which rely on these in house solutions to better serve our clients’ needs.
The Data Integration and Report developer’s main duty is independent report development and maintenance in the SQL Server. It consists of report development, enhancements, maintenance, implementation, and delivery through a variety of platforms, and creates Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes for data integration from a variety of sources. Additionally, the duties include data analysis, customer support, customer training, business analysis and requirements gathering, documentation, and testing. This position supports Data Services’ efforts to implement innovative data solutions, helping to transform lives.

Some of what you will do:
- IT solutions to support data warehouse and reporting products. Products could include SQL tables, stored procedures, SQL views, Azure data lakes, etc.
- Interfaces with internal and external state, public, and private partners
- Write/Update User Stories, Business Requirements, Data dictionaries or other documents as needed
- Self-service reporting tools that customers can use to answer reporting questions
- Data transfer and loading processes such as ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) or ELT (Extract/Load/Transform)
- Reports for addressing ad-hoc and recurring reporting needs to help business and management make financial, policy planning and agency wide decisions

What we are looking for:
- Experience in MS reporting tools SSRS and Power BI
- Three or more years of database design and development using MS SQL Server, T-SQL programming experience such as stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
- Experience in Data Warehousing, ETL processes and SQL Server Integration Services
- Ability to transform business requirements into technical solutions
Who Should Apply?
Professionals with:
Bachelor’s degree with major study in information systems/technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistical Analysis, Engineering, or a closely related field;
AND
Four or more years of analyzing, designing, programming in database applications, or at least eight years related work experience in lieu of degree or certifications.
Of the required education, experience, or certifications at the top of this section, at least four or more years of experience with structured query language (SQL), Transact-SQL (T-SQL), or PL/SQL language designing table structures, writing efficient stored procedures and queries with high performance for analyzing, combining and creating accurate data. This experience can be gained concurrently.
Note: Professionals with a Master's degree in computer science or a related program will substitute for two additional years of experience.

- Being able to evaluate problems in terms of software development is essential to the core of the work done
- The majority of software development for this position is done in a structured query language (SQL). It is important to understand how SQL and other query languages work
- Position is highly data and system-centric
- Understanding of information technology with a strong foundation in data structures and underlying computer logic is needed
