Application Development Manager Jobs

The Johnson County Kansas Department of Technology is seeking a skilled and experienced Application Development Manager to lead our dynamic team responsible for our Justice Information Management Systems. As the Application Development Manager, you will collaborate with technology teams and business partners, including Corrections, Courts, District Attorney's Office, Emergency Services, Sheriff's Office, and City Police Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead, direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of others.
• Collaborate with technology teams and business partners to ensure successful delivery and operation of software applications.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the department, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.
• Ensure adherence to established development standards, best practices, and security protocols.
• Supervise and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance and support.
• Manage the technical environment, primarily Microsoft Windows-based with an IBM AIX backend, utilizing Rocket Software's UniVerse.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work culture, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.
• Lead and manage the strategy, development, implementation, and maintenance of our Justice Information Management Systems. This includes custom developed software and commercial off-the-shelf solutions, such as Niche RMS.

Job Requirements

• Experience in municipal or County government organizations, particularly in the Criminal Justice area, is preferred.
• Familiarity with IBM AIX, Linux, or other backend systems, along with Rocket Software's UniVerse or similar technologies
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, along with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based environments
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field;seven (7)years of experience in application support and development of information technology systems in multi-platform environments and at leastfive (5) years of managerial experience in application support, administration, and development required.
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, best practices, and security protocols

This position iseligibleto work in a hybrid work environment with both onsite and remote work.Residency within the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS Combined Statistical Area, which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, and Linn, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, and Ray, is required.
