Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT:


This position will provide engineering support to the California High Speed Rail Authority and its systematic project document control. Helps coordinate preliminary engineering submittal reviews with High Speed Rail engineering staff. Works under the direct supervision of the Engineering Support Lead and with Engineering Services staff, Rail Operations and Maintenance and Infrastructure Delivery on the Program.


TYPICAL DUTIES:


Program-specific activities will include the following:


Reviews engineering submittals received from the Project Contract Manager (PCM)/Project Manager (PM) document control for completeness prior to distribution to the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), collect and provide submittal review comments and responses received from Engineering Services.

Provides project status and activities performed


Develops and maintains a systematic and organized document control system

Coordinates RFI’s, technical submittals and directives between Engineering Services, Infrastructure Delivery and PCM Engineering Staff

Participates in engineering meetings representing Engineering Services


Supports to develop and maintain a systematic and organized document control system


Supports coordination of RFI’s, technical submittals and directives between Engineering Services, Infrastructure Delivery and PCM Engineering Staff


Helps provide communication between Engineering Services and the project development team and PCM engineering staff

Helps provide communication between Engineering Services processes and policies

Provides assistance in bulletins preparation, claims preparation, change order review and disputes

Represents engineering services in support of Authority functional branches

Participates in Over the shoulder meetings, draft DVR meetings, type selection meetings, and issues resolution meetings

Works with PCM change management on accounting for directives, and DVR in baseline configurations

Provides assistance to Engineering Services, Infrastructure Delivery, ROW and Third Parties in order to prevent project delays


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


This individual will:

This individual shall have, Rail, Transit and Civil Engineering experience and at least 5 years of civil engineering experience

Ability to define problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete

variables


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of Caltrans, AREMA, AASHTO LRFD with Caltrans Amendments, and local and federal standards.

Ability to understand structural and/or civil engineering design and construction, understand construction related contracts, understand the design-build

environment.

Ability to work with others in a team environment.
