Division Manager of Manufacturing Page Content Classification Exempt - Full Time Salary Grade/Level/Range Salary based on experience Reports to Vice President of Product Marketing and Development JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective Manages merchandising and purchasing operations of the Prince Manufacturing Division product lines of Animal Feed, Wild Bird Seed, and Lawn Seed. Develop objectives and processes to implement the merchandising, purchasing and pricing initiatives of this division. This includes coordinating associated departments, planning budget needs, and monitoring the company's merchandising system. Reviews and evaluates customer demand and sales trends, generates reports, analyzes financial performance, determines where to place products for sale. Supervises subordinate staff, provides corresponding trainings. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. As Division Manager, you will be responsible for all product lines, production, procurement, and price structuring of your assigned division within the corporation. This includes increasing the profitability of existing products to development of new products for the manufacturing division. You will build the division and develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with sales, suppliers, customers and support staff. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and work with the entire management team to implement the corporate goals. You will work with suppliers, dealers, mill and warehouse personnel, transportation, accounting, support staff and end users. Frequent communications with manufacturing production teams to ensure adequate ingredients and finished product levels are maintained. You will work with the marketing department to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external educator for your product offering, many times working with the sales channel and key customers. Responsible for managing all price strategy, product issues, and sales goals throughout the product life cycle while staying within the current target customer base. Responsible for the purchasing agents' professionalism, and meeting corporate goals and policies. Responsible for the purchasing agents' performance with in the division, and be able to promote a team environment that extends out across all departments of the company, suppliers, and customers. Responsible that inventory levels are consistent with the division goals while maintaining a minimum 98% fill rate on stock A & B items. Responsible for the complete item maintenance of the division product list to ensure all information is accurate and updated in a timely manner. Responsible for all bill of materials (BOM) being accurate and updated in a timely manner. Responsible for all new supplier and item set up in our system is accurate and completed in a timely manner. Responsible for all system pricing maintenance (Including cost, margin, sell price, contract pricing, promotional pricing, ext.). Solely responsible for the organization of monthly promotions, bookings, show pricing and programs and required information requested by the marketing department. Solely responsible for information requested by the marketing department to complete the annual catalog and web site updates. Oversee the drop ship quotes and pricing. Direct and oversee all supplier communications to insure the best corporate and supplier working relationship possible to create a true team environment with our suppliers. Create a system to reduce and cycle thru the slow moving inventory. (Closeout items) Competencies Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning, budgeting and market planning Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by occasional visits to customers, ride alongs with Sales, and attending industry events Developing and implementing a company-wide product strategy, working with all departments to execute. Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product. Continually monitor your competition and implement a competitive strategy; be an expert with respect to the competition Act as a leader within the company Excellent knowledge in Microsoft office products. Knowledge in Inventory Management software and query a plus. Supervisory Responsibility Must be able to supervise a small staff including 1 or more Purchasing Agents or Purchasing Assistants. Work Environment There are no hazards in performing this position. Some heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. This position works from our Marshfield, Wisconsin office or remotely at home. Physical Demands The employee is required to sit for long periods of time. This position may require some heavy lifting. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full-time salaried position = 40+ hours per week. Hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend work is required. Travel This position requires occasional travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America. Education and Experience Proficient at Microsoft Office programs with an in-depth knowledge in Microsoft Excel required. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Procurement, Finance or related field preferred or equivalent experience of 3+ or more years.
