Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager

Job Duties

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager in the Judicial College. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager will guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive educational and programmatic vision that advances and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Ohio Judicial Branch.

In this role, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager will primarily plan live education and assist e-learning colleagues to design online self-study courses from inception to completion.

What You'll Do:

As a new position, the following duties are envisioned for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Serve as the primary staff lead for creating, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating educational programs related to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, culture, region, religious or spiritual beliefs, disability, age, gender (including transgender), and sexual orientation/sexual identity (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, etc.) within the court system.
  • Identify emerging educational topics and methods for delivering these educational topics and provide recommendations to the Director of the Judicial College.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide close consultation to the Administrative Director and the Director of the Judicial College to facilitate considerations of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the formulation and adoption of rules, policies, procedures, practices, communications, and education for the court system, including a recognition of the role that court access plays in a robust diversity strategy.
  • Develop and manage courses and implement curriculum for targeted audiences; estimate costs and monitor expenses; manage grants and other financial resources to ensure they are consistent with plans; analyze trends and make projections for future financial requirements.
  • Effectively use technological education tools such as laptops, computer applications, multimedia projectors and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint and polling software, still and moving pictures, flip charts).
  • Utilize instruments to obtain participant evaluation of program content and faculty performance; compile, review, and analyze evaluation results; inform Judicial College Director of evaluation results; incorporate results into future program planning.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources and the Director of the Judicial College to develop and strengthen existing education of judges and employees at all levels of the judicial branch on how to recognize, appreciate, and accommodate diversity, equity, and inclusion in carrying out the judiciary’s mission.
  • Provide consultation to the Director of Human Resources to develop and implement an outreach plan to attract diverse job candidates and retain diverse candidates for interviews.
  • Develop metrics for measuring the effectiveness of the Court’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and prepare reports on the value of the implemented initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain partnerships with other state and local government entities and community organizations including bar associations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with peers in other states and jurisdictions to further the development and implementation of programs, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Conduct special projects assigned by the Chief Justice, Administrative Director, Deputy Administrative Director, or the Director of the Judicial College.

Qualifications


What we’re looking for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in adult learning, education, business or public administration or related field or the equivalent. An advanced degree in education, law or related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion is required.
  • Demonstrable high-level of organizational aptitude and collaborative leadership qualities generally, and specifically with the ability to converse about diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, cultural competency, and relevant evidence-based research and best practices. Understanding of national and regional trends in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and engagement with relevant professional associations on the national, state, and/or local level.
  • Exceptional project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to interact and effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with supervisor, co-workers, judges, justices, attorneys, court administrators or other court personnel and/or the public.
  • The ability to handle confidential information and materials in a discrete and professional manner.
  • Intermediate skill using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Travel is expected and required. Some overnight travel may be necessary. A valid driver’s license is required. Requires the ability to work non-standard hours as needed.

This is an exempt unclassified position. The minimum starting salary for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $93,537.60.
