Job Description
The Dispatcher’s primary responsibility is to coordinate the scheduling of trucks/drivers to meet the delivery needs of an assigned multi-branch territory (external/internal) in the most efficient manner possible. The secondary function establishes a reliable communication link between the branch and customers.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Act as a critical leader in management to ensure optimum communications between the Branch Management, Operations Management, Sales, and customers in an assigned service area.
  • Resolve delivery issues and provide additional guidance and directions as needed
  • Counsel Regional/District Management on areas where we can improve driver/fleet efficiency and customer service
  • Manage truckload weight limits to be within DOT regulations
  • Determine adequate job site time durations for each delivery
  • Communicate the schedule to the home branch and satellite branches; make any / all the necessary changes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to and promote all Beacon’s safety standards
  • Review orders and ensure the delivery information is correct (Promise Dates, Delivery Addresses, Delivery Types, etc.); communicate any changes required to the appropriate sales person
  • Identify risk areas and present solutions to management
  • Maintain adherence to union contracts (where applicable)
  • Monitor the progress of all deliveries via GPS data
  • Manage the delivery process for multiple locations
  • Manage, organize, coordinate, and schedule Drivers and Helpers based on customers, locations, and materials.
  • Utilize Beacon Track to schedule all deliveries and transfers for an assigned cluster of branches.


Qualifications


Qualifications include:


  • Experience as a CDL driver is preferred
  • Experience in the building products industry is preferred
  • 5+ years experience in an Operations/Warehouse Management role
  • Bi-lingual is a plus
  • Experience with logistics management systems
  • 2+ years of dispatching experience in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment
