Provides leadership for Security and Parking Services. Ensures delivery of quality services; regulatory compliance, manages operations efficiently and effectively to achieve service and revenue objectives. Initiates the integration of additional services as needed. Oversees the campus security and parking force. Implements satisfaction drivers, coaches, trains, and develops managers and supervisors. Develops employee training and retention initiatives.
The Director of Security primary objective will be maintaining a safe, secure and threat free environment. The Director shall provide a framework for the successful implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive security and parking program. She/He will also serve as an integral part of the Environment of Care Committee, Emergency Preparedness and Threat Management team.
This position requires the full understanding of security and parking operations consistent with the mission of Keck Medicine of USC. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the mission and values. Supports Keck Medicine of USC strategic plan, goals and key performance indicators.
This position is assigned the responsibility and is authorized by the CEO to proactively take any and all steps necessary to eliminate any unsafe conditions or threats, which could result in personal injury, loss of assets or property damage in a manner, which is consistent with the mission, and philosophy of the Keck Medicine of USC.
Minimum Education: • Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferably with emphasis in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Communication or Business Administration. • Education may be substituted by six to eight years of experience of which three years are specific to developing, implementing and monitoring security systems. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the security, parking, or related field; with at minimum of three (3) years in supervisory or managerial level, preferably in healthcare environment. • Three (3) years of progressively responsible systems security experience is required. • Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education. • Must have the ability to plan, organize and implement administrative and operational programs and procedures, which includes the development of budgets. • Must have knowledge of and have experience with parking and transportation systems and its related issues or problems. • Must have Leadership, Administrative, Planning, Organizing, Prioritizing, Interpersonal/Relations skills. • Computer literate and use of personal computer and computer program software. • Thorough knowledge about all security equipment and security operations.. • Attention to details • Very high internal customer focused orientation with strong customer service and service delivery orientation. • Oral and written communications skills, including the excellent written and spoken English. • Achievement orientation. • Positive attitude. • Self motivation. • Quality of training programs. • Knowledge of Healthcare operations, management and human resources administration. • Ability to synthesize business/financial data and develop solutions. • Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures. • Ability to be an effective leader and member of teams. • Ability to be proactive, take initiative and achieve results. • Preferred field of expertise in hospital and clinical information systems security.. • Knowledge, training, and/or experience in safety, fire protection, civil disturbance, emergency preparedness procedures and planning, C.P.R./AED, Security and Safety issues and standards as set forth by OSHA and TJC is preferred. Required License/Certification: • Valid current California driver’s license is required. • BLS – Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. • CHPA (Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator), CHSP (Certified Healthcare Safety Professional) or CHEM (Certified Healthcare Environmental Manager) designations are desirable. • Valid Fire and Safety Certification -If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $110,240.00 - $181,896.00.
