POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Project Management with 7-10+ years of dedicated project planning and management experience to oversee and execute the project management process for Continental. They will work on a variety of projects including, but not limited to cross-functional initiatives, process improvement, new technology, mergers and acquisitions, change management and organizational design.


The Director will lead the existing Project Management Office for the organization. Candidates must have strong organization, communication, and technical skills and be capable of leading multiple projects concurrently. They must be exceptional at bringing people together, facilitating decision-making and fostering a culture of accountability. The Director will mentor and develop Project Managers within the organization and establish deep trusting relationships with Senior Leaders. The Director of Project Management will be responsible for communicating the prioritization of projects and detailing the scope, timeline, budget and reflection for projects ranging from small departmental projects to large cross-functional company initiatives.


The Director will encourage and create a project environment that is committed to a collaborative, team-driven approach to problem solving, and provide the highest level of design excellence and service for our guests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with culinary team, design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, internal operators, and other vendors to meet overall program and project objectives.
  • Lead the planning, design, execution, and monitoring of projects related to startup of operations for both refreshment and corporate dining services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Create collaboration within all project teams.
  • Identify activities on the critical path and identify internal issues, risks, and challenges to the critical path.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders.
  • Direct project management operations for all business units and partners.
  • Lead project planning and management for a variety of large-scale projects and company-wide events.
  • Ability to shift priorities based on feedback from Senior Leadership Team.
  • Track project costs to meet budget.
  • Identify ways to streamline process, improve organizational communication, and set expectations with guests.
  • Facilitate conversations and promote healthy dialogue between team members.
  • Delegate tasks on the project to employees who are best positioned to complete them.
  • Work with members of the team to develop solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of projects.
  • Develop and utilize strong working relationships to ensure thorough and effective management of assigned project initiative(s).
  • Teach and support the organization with the tools and best practices established by the PMO.
  • Communicate with executive stakeholders to keep the project aligned with their goals.
  • Develop detailed, digital project plans, and schedules for every project and coordinate statuses with the project team throughout the life of the project.
  • Oversee Project Management Office (PMO).


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Smartsheet is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Experience in a highly agile and fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong work ethic; does what they say they will do and is driven by passion for their work
  • 7+ years of Project Management / PMO experience
  • Values learning business process, workflows as well as responsibilities of roles within the organization

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

Possible travel required throughout the State of Michigan as well as bordering states.


ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands of this position are primarily sedentary in nature. The job is performed primarily while sitting at a desk or in meetings with others. There may be prolonged use of a keyboard and computer. There may be occasions when there is a need to lift items weighing 10 pounds although rarely. Some additional lifting and physical exertion may be required due to the routine requirements of travel.
