Job Description

The Director, Professional Relations (Regional Strategic Focus) will enhance our leadership position in Dermatology by helping to create and develop a robust strategic customer engagement / opinion leader strategy as well as acting as the main point of contact for identified customers / opinion leaders by:

  • Representing Arcutis at any number of Society, Congress, and other relevant events
  • Establishing and nurturing long lasting relationships to enable our vision and aspiration of becoming the premier dermatology company
  • Specifically seeking candidates for the Northeast and Southeast Regions
  • Increasing efficiencies of regional opinion leaders' interactions with Arcutis
  • Expanding and strengthening the dermatology footprint with the Field Regions and regional communities


This role will report to the Head of Professional Relations.


Roles & Responsibilities

The Professional Relations Director will serve as the primary point of contact for Regional Opinion Leaders (ROL) influential to the treatment of dermatologic conditions in the United States. These responsibilities include:


  1. Enabling single point of contact experience for ROLs and thought leaders by ensuring all functions are aware of key activities
  2. Leading the ROL strategy and engagement plan that yields optimal advocacy relationships with key customers
  3. Partnering with Commercial, Medical and Development teams to identify regional level thought leaders and emerging new ROLs in Dermatology; covers resident engagement to identify emerging leaders
  4. In collaboration with medical, leading insight gathering among ROLs including 1:1 engagement, small group meetings, and regional advisory boards to gather actionable commercial information. Will utilize tracking tool developed for team.
  5. Supporting promotional speaker identification, training, and logistics
  6. Assisting commercial with ROL recruiting efforts for national meetings, training programs and headquarter interactions. Manage logistics, discussion topics and introductions
  7. Partnering with commercial and medical affairs to develop an annual advisory board plan for regional thought leaders that assists with commercial strategies
  8. Developing the regional and local congress strategy and plan in partnership with the brand team and medical affairs that includes clear commercial objectives and key discussion points. Lead Tier 3 and regional congress planning with marketing
  9. Building customer awareness of Arcutis’ commitment to advancing the treatment of patients with dermatologic conditions and diseases
  10. Supports regional and state society meetings and budget with congress team and sales.
  11. Strong collaboration with RSD team to identify and engage customers
  12. Expected travel is 50%-70% (Congresses, Customer visits, Professional Society Meetings, Home office visits)


Education & Licenses and Experience

  • Former experience as a NP or PA a plus
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech industry, including five to seven years in Professional Relations, Opinion Leader or advocacy relations, marketing, sales or medical affairs
  • 5 years in Dermatology a plus

  • Previous experience leading the development and implementation of thought leader plans and professional medical society and patient advocacy strategies for pharmaceutical organizations

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Relations, Opinion Leader or advocacy relations, marketing, sales or medical
  • Proven ability to manage organizational complexities and breadth of issues
  • Proven ability to collaborate and team well with internal partners
  • Marketing & sales experience a plus; Understanding of brand and franchise needs, including relevant scientific, medical, economic and policy-related matters related to this therapeutic area
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and influence effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including marketing, medical affairs, public relations and colleagues from medical and marketing
  • Strong relationships building skills, with proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with HCPs / Opinion Leaders, and internal team
  • Ability to lead and represent the company and, where appropriate, to follow within a large complex organization and within small collaborative working teams
  • Sound judgment in critical decision making
  • Proven understanding of key trends in both internal and external environment
