Description
We are looking for a Director, Operations to join our mission-driven team. As an integral part of the Operations department, you will join forces with the SVP, Operations (to whom you will also report) in our continued effort to inspire people to eat more plants!
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about leading a team of managers and individual contributors towards operational excellence in Fulfillment, Inventory and Shipping/Logistics. This role will play a strategic role in shaping the growth and future direction of Operations and contribute cross-functionally to drive toward scalability + economies of scale. The role requires outstanding organizational leadership, communication, and change management skills with an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries.

Location:
- This role is expected to travel (~20%) to other partner sites or other business related meetings at our Needham, MA HQ.
- Greater Chicago Area - this role is expected to be onsite at our fulfillment partner on a regular basis unless traveling.
On the Plate
- Provide timely feedback to direct/indirect reports.
- Drive positive change within the facility
- Enable the team to meet all KPI’s & financial metrics and achieve daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals through driving and managing to high standards for execution
- Adapt to the ever-changing business needs and ensure that the team does the same
- Drive continuous improvement when it comes to Food Safety, Food Quality, Cost, and Delivery
- Lead, coach and develop diverse talent within each functional area of fulfillment (Fulfillment, Inventory and Shipping) with a focus on building future leaders
- Create a positive team dynamic that encourages all team members in the fulfillment center(s) to:
- Develop trust, credibility, effective and collaborative relationships with Purple Carrot partners, vendors, team members and direct reports, act with ethics and integrity always
- Proactively engage internal and external stakeholders to align priorities and resources, including leading weekly/monthly meetings, driving sense of urgency and escalation as needed to achieve goals
- Actively listen and accept feedback; convey ideas and/or concerns; communicate and hold partners accountable to the PC brand, KPI’s, and culture.
Main Ingredients for the Role
- Inventory control management with a background in building/improving warehouse management or inventory tracking systems (WMS implementation a plus)
- Strong continuous improvement skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive background in Fulfillment, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, manufacturing and co-manufacturing
- APICS certification (preferred)
- Deep knowledge of Lean and Agile Production
- Demonstrated success at delivering new product initiatives in both a large company and start-up environments
- 8-10 years of management experience leading a manufacturing or fulfillment operations center; preferably in food service, food production or kitting - Front line experience is a plus
- Familiarity with FSMA, HACCP, SQF
