Job Description
The OST Training Director will create and deliver training and coaching in group settings, individually, and in the moment. This position includes overseeing the training platform Schoology and utilizing it to provide opportunities for staff to access support. They will be responsible for creating training log for all teachers and counselors and keeping them updated. This includes ensuring that the number of annual training hours exceeds the standards of childcare licensing.


This position will be a hybrid of in office and in the field work. A typical day will be spent with the morning at the HEF office and afternoons in programs. The training Director will report to Program Officers of Community Learning Centers, Learning and Discovery, and Early Learning Programs.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Obtain a PreK – Upper Elementary CLASS certification.
  • Will observe, provide coaching, and create training plans to support direct service staff’s development.
  • Maintains OST staff files in accordance with VDOE Licensing standards
  • Become a CPR/First Aid trainer and administrator classes to HEF staff to keep their certification up to date.
  • Responds to all staff and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Works in partnership with HCPS and HEF staff to plan and execute multiple staff training events for HEF program staff throughout the year
  • Will utilize and maintain the training platform Schoology to support school age and early learning staff in professional development
  • Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others
  • Communicates effectively with parents, staff, school personnel, children, and volunteers
  • Conducts quarterly staff file audits to ensure minimal licensing violations
  • Contribute willingly to every “all hands” projects and special events,
  • Attend and contribute to required staff meetings and other foundation events
  • Actively participate as a positive member of the HEF team, meeting or exceeding team standards, including but not limited to the following:
  • Assist program staff with reporting and grant administration


Requirements


Qualifications


  • 3+ years’ experience managing teams, creating training materials, and increasing the quality of programs
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Learning, Elementary Education, or a related field
  • One plus years of experience with licensed school-age program management preferred
