Job Description

We are conducting a confidential search for a DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL AND COLLEGE COUNSELING at a premier PK-12 independent school in MIAMI, FLORIDA.

In this role, you would lead an experienced team of counselors and mental health coordinators with great passion for their work and its positive impact on students. The school wishes to positively affect the nature of the college acceptance list that, while strong, could see a broader geographic range of matriculations and an increased number of most selective colleges. The Office of School and College Counseling focuses on providing both college counseling and personal guidance, a structure that has had many benefits, though serving in such a dual role requires separate skills sets and training for each counselor. The new Director will work with the administrative team to determine the optimal structure, staffing, approach, personnel, and assignments to both effectively serve the students and families and to help position the school’s classes more competitively in their choice of college options.

The school is most interested in candidates with a strong track record in college counseling who have a deep understanding of the ways in which college admissions offices and the application process operates, have trusted relationships with and knowledge of a range of colleges and their admissions standards, and have managed a team of counselors inclusively, collaboratively, and supportively. The counseling/guidance aspect of the office requires professionals who understand, support, and can participate in the guidance aspect of the office’s work.

If you are interested in this extraordinary opportunity, please submit your resume and contact Zack Lehman at [email protected].
