The Role


The Director of Procurement leads the multi-site purchasing organization in all aspects of procurement for directs, in-directs, services, capital equipment and expansion projects. Establishes and manages raw material commodity strategies, supply contracts, and holds suppliers accountable for top performance in chemicals, packaging/filters, and MRO. Responsible for strategic sourcing, strategic supplier relationships, spend analysis, cost reduction objectives and roadmaps, supply assurance and securing best overall value while continuing to ensure that purchased materials support quality, cost, delivery, and service levels. This position partners with Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality Engineering, R&D and Facilities, and provides leadership in problem solving, risk mitigation and new product development strategies.


Key responsibilities for this role include:


  • Manage supplier contract negotiations to ensure cost competitiveness and risk mitigation.
  • Leads early R&D involvement to design and target viable suppliers with desired scales, price curves and capabilities.
  • Partners with Facilities & Maintenance on CapEx projects and service agreements, including RFI/RFP’s, side-by-side analysis, recommendations, and legal contracts.
  • Partners with Business Management, Supplier Quality, Planning, Operations, and our suppliers to improve quality, inventory management, and drive our supplier's processes closer to world class performance levels.
  • Formulate and recommend SOP, policies, and programs that guide the organization to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Escalate and engaging supplier CEO level as needed to support key initiatives, investments, and global challenges.
  • Lead and coordinate major projects, BIDS, global negotiations and agreements on chemicals, packaging, and filters, and services, contractors, equipment, and expansions with Engineering.
  • Manage overall 3rd Party Toll relationships to ensure raw material supplier, product supply, increased process efficiencies and best practices.
  • Establish, measure and report procurement KPI’s, including cost reduction and supplier performance.
  • Responsible for procurement budget process, PPV and works closely with other business functions and key stakeholders to develop cost effective purchasing strategies in support of financial goals.
  • Procurement liaison to all different business units requiring strategic communication updates and alignment.
  • Responsible for assignment of work, allocating resources, monitoring results, and controlling costs.
  • Expert negotiator prepares and leads price negotiations strategies /tactics; avoids and/or mitigates increases and monitors feedstocks, currency, volumes, and leverage points to proactively lower prices in collaboration with key business stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, train and mentor the Procurement team; drive a culture that emphasizes open communication, empowerment, recognition, and workplace safety.
  • Responsible to manage all strategic and tactical sourcing tasks, site purchasing operations, and supplier engagement to drive roadmaps to improve supplier rating performance.
  • Act as a project manager (develop, manage, and implement) for cross-functional teams to build strategic alignment to meet commercial objectives and supply assurance (i.e., force majeures, allocations, freight conflicts, etc.)


REQUIREMENTS


  • Strong experience in developing purchasing procedures, approaches, price negotiations and supplier relationships.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and independent ability to fix problems.
  • Teamwork, integrity, and accuracy of work required.
  • Budget management experience (1-3 years).
  • Demonstrated competence in SAP, software applications, Microsoft outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus notes.
  • Sourcing experience with domestic and international vendors, vendor certification, consignment, and terms & contract negotiation/administration (5+ years)
  • Proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Director, or head of procurement.
  • Progressive management experience (minimum of 10 years) working in semiconductor manufacturing and/or a fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set deadlines and work well with others required.
  • Strong negotiation abilities, problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Business Management, Supply Chain Management with experience procuring chemicals; Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers, and other FFEM sites.
