The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall efficient and effective operations of the company including Engineering, Powder Production, Pressing, Shaping, Sintering, Finishing, Shipping and Maintenance. They manage all systems and processes and direct all activities related to their reporting departments to ensure the quality production and timely delivery of the organization’s products and services.
The Director of Operations oversees the activities of the EHS Manager and is responsible for the adherence to and timely submission of all environmental reporting. The Director of Operations will also direct the Maintenance and Facility Manager and all maintenance functions including and upkeep of all the equipment, grounds, and facilities for the entire organization. They may be asked or required to participate in the operations of other related party organizations, as needed.
- Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with key tooling, supply, and machine vendors.
- Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
- Provide strong leadership by modeling examples and creating a positive team environment with a focus on the five GCC Core Values.
- Manage requests for information from other departments concerning orders, scheduling, RMA’s, root cause analysis or other inquiries.
- Consult with all areas of the organization to assist in process improvements and problem solving.
- Work with the EHS Manager to develop safe work practices and create and monitor safety measurements.
- Determine quarterly and yearly operational goals by reporting department.
- Evaluate equipment and facility capacity based on current and forecasted needs and recommend strategic purchase.
- Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage all operational functions of the business, including but not limited to, Engineering, Powder Production, Pressing, Shaping, Sintering, Finishing, Shipping, Maintenance and Environmental and Safety including budget preparation and all personnel functions comprising hiring, firing, performance evaluations, mentoring and coaching.
- Lead and develop the engineering and manufacturing efforts to study, define, create, recommend, and implement the latest developments in new manufacturing technologies, machine, and machine tools, including automation and robotics, to improve manufacturing processes, reduce cost, increase efficiencies, and strengthen the company’s long-term growth.
- Optimize all plant assets to develop the products and process-flow and meet the growth and profitability objectives.
- Manage planning, scheduling, and plant loading to make sure lead times are accurate and are achieved.
- Develop and implement new manufacturing and work-flow processes to lead the departments toward increased growth and profitability.
- Define roles and responsibilities for direct reports.
