Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Operations to join our team and help drive our mission forward.
Job Summary:
As the Director of Operations at Welcoming America, you will lead Operational excellence, develop and mentor our Operation’s team and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our organization. You will oversee various operational and administrative functions, implement effective systems and processes, and play a significant role in supporting our mission. This individual will be in key in shaping the next phase of growth at Welcoming America, through their Operational expertise and organizational leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit management, experience in overseeing diverse teams, and a passion for promoting inclusive communities.
Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide strategic leadership to the operations team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Cultivate a culture of growth and professional development within the team, providing ongoing mentoring and guidance to team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and career advancement opportunities.
Partner closely with other department heads to align operations with programmatic goals and organizational priorities, as well as problem solve for the future. Identify creative solutions to operational efficiency and excellence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains. Regularly evaluate organizational systems and procedures, seeking innovative solutions to enhance effectiveness and scalability.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee expense management, accounting operations, banking relationship and management. Work closely with our CFO partner to ensure alignment.
  • Technology and Systems: Evaluate, implement, and maintain technology systems and tools to support operational needs. Collaborate with IT vendors to ensure the security and effectiveness of technology infrastructure.
  • Contract Management: Lead the contract review, negotiation, and management process. Act as an organizational signatory where appropriate. Collaborate with program teams to ensure compliance with funding requirements and achievement of program goals.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate organizational risks. Establish and maintain appropriate policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and reputation.
  • Operational Management: Develop and implement operational strategies to support the organization's growth and impact. Streamline internal processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness across all departments. Serve as the leader of the Atlanta-based office and oversee office operations (physical and remote).
  • Legal and Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and non-profit governance. Manage state compliance. Oversee contracts, agreements, and vendor relationships. Oversee organizational policy development and maintenance, including maintaining records in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Human Resources: Oversee and provide partnership to the HR vendor, providing guidance as needed on talent acquisition, performance management, employee development, and retention. Ensure compliance with employment laws and promote a positive and inclusive work environment. Partner with CFO and HR vendor on benefits administration and policy.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in technology systems and tools relevant to non-profit operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing operational strategies and systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit operational management and acumen in business planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in non-profit operations and administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for Welcoming America's mission and commitment to promoting inclusive communities.
  • Familiarity with legal and compliance requirements in the non-profit sector.

Work Environment
Welcoming America operates in a hybrid work environment, with the preference to work onsite if based in the Atlanta area. To work remotely, you must have access to a reliable internet connection. A laptop will be provided.

Salary floor: $72,000
