General Purpose of the Job


This position will oversee the Atlanta market.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position leads all aspects of plant operations, safety, plant & truck maintenance, driver labor pool, and concrete delivery trucks for the assigned multi-plant area. This role has overall responsibility to ensure financial and operational goals are achieved for the area while delivering a superior customer experience and promoting a high engagement work environment. Leads business improvement efforts through the rigorous application of the Argos Operating System, lean principles & tools, and promotion of a strong continuous culture. Develops an organization capable of achieving the business objectives on a sustainable basis. Works closely with sales and dispatch to ensure plant operations, drivers, and trucks are adequately available to meet daily customer demand.


Individual Accountabilities


  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees through implementation and maintenance of company directed safety programs, compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and promotion of a strong preventative safety culture.
  • Work closely with sales and dispatch to ensure plant operations, drivers, and trucks are adaquetly available to meet daily customer demand.
  • Ensure proper collection and reporting of data necessary to track performance of the manufactuing operation against plan, identify root causes of issues, and support problem solving efforts.
  • Develop an organization, and the people, capable of achieving the plants short term and long term goals. This includes establishing goals, reviewing performance, developing talent, and building succession plans.
  • Effectively deploy the Argos Operating System and associated tool kit. Utilize the Argos Daily Management system as the basis for running the plants on a daily basis.
  • Eliminate waste throughout the manufacturing operations through deployment of the Lean tools & processes, driving a continuous improvement culture, and promoting employee engagement at all levels of the plant. Deploy specifically targeted kaizens, projects, and JDI’s to drive a higher level of Operational Excellence.
  • Establish goals and priorities for all team members, based on business objectives. Proactively identify barriers and challenges that could negatively impact the achievement of those goals and implement effective solutions to minimize impact.
  • Communicate priorities, initiatives, and performance to all employees including daily, weekly, and quarterly scheduled meetings.
  • Provide overall leadership to ensure that the financial (shipments, ebitda) and operational goals (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost Productivity, Working Capital) for the area are met.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.
  • Identify, propose, and obtain approval for large, impactful projects (capital & other) to drive step change improvements in the plants / fleet performance .
  • Develop annual budget and ensure proper reporting of data necessary to track the performance of the operations against budget.
  • Provide leadership to the organization to achieve highest levels of customer service in support of company goals and objectives. Promote the development of a customer focused culture that engages all associates through communication, priority setting and example. Play a leading role in communicating customer needs to the organization.

Education

Master's Preferred; Business, Engineering, Science or other Technical Discipline.


Technical knowledge and certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of direct supervision (hourly and salaried employees) in a Plant Manager, Supervisor, or Value Stream Manager or equivalent role. Experience managing multiple sites is preferred. Experience in a capital intensive, continuous processing industry is preferred. Experience in a strong lean environment required.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification is preferred.

Industrial manufacturing, building materials, construction / processing environment.

Annual Salary Range From $112,418.84 to $156,137.28
