Job Description

At Thermetrics, (www.thermetrics.com), we build systems that simulate human thermal response, measure heat transfer in clothing, and predict burn injury in extreme environments.Our Seattle facility brings together an amazing team of talented engineers, technicians, and scientists to deliver high performance instruments and services.If you use a temperature rated sleeping bag it was probably tested on one of our manikins.


We are looking for a unique individual to oversee and optimize the design, production, and testing of our projects.Our environment is high energy and our projects are high value, low volume.Thermetrics is a hands-on company and this is a hands-on role connecting design to production, optimizing production methods, ultimately ensuring high product quality and on-time delivery.

As a Strategic Executive, you will:

  • Identify, prioritize, and manage change and efficiency initiatives
  • Actively participate in shaping and communicating the company roadmap
  • Serve on the Thermetrics Leadership Team and report directly to the President
  • Define, report, and take responsibility for Key Performance Indicators

As an Operations Leader, you will:

  • Oversee product and subassembly build and QA/QC system to deliver world-class products
  • Optimize build documentation and tooling
  • Specify and oversee maintenance for production equipment and spaces
  • Relentlessly apply lean practices to identify and eliminate waste
  • Oversee the engineering and production staffing level and schedule
  • Coach, mentor, provide feedback and improve the skill set and productivity of the team
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment

From your education and experience, you bring:

  • More than 3 years in a hands-on leadership role for high-value small-batch engineered systems
  • Ability and desire to work at multiple levels from strategy to hands-on assembly
  • Past experience overseeing, developing, and/or implanting formal quality systems
  • Expertise with Lean mindsets, systems, and practices
  • Fluency developing, documenting and presenting analytical information
  • Personal experiences or active involvement in one or more of our market spaces
  • Experience with electromechanical systems, sensors, instrumentation, etc.
  • A BS or higher degree in Engineering or equivalent

Salary range DOE, typical $150-$200k
