Job Description

Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.


Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President – of Aging & Nutrition Services the Director of Nutrition Services (Director) provides day-to-day supervision of the Food and Nutrition Department at the Isaacs and Goddard Riverside Community Center including food preparation and delivery, associated with the Department of the Aging (DFTA), Home Delivered Meals Program, congregate meals, and internal catered meals program specific to food preparation, production, and delivery. Key positions report to the Director to serve in ways that are effective, efficient, and sustainable including the Food Service Manager, Home Delivered Meals Manager, and Food Transport team. The Director serves as an essential member of the leadership team and will work in collaboration with and in support of food service and delivery expectations and initiatives across the organization.


Schedule:
35 hours per week


Salary Range:
$76,600 - $95,760

  • Monitors and controls expenditures and maintains assigned budget.
  • Works with the Administrative Director to direct, assign, schedule, and evaluate food service
  • Communicates with team members on changes within the department.
  • Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety and develops and implements all necessary strategies and approaches to ensure access, quality, choice, and diversity.
  • Ensures the compliance of all vendors and sub-contractors with all contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and program performance standards.
  • Manages and coordinates all day to day food service and delivery operations.
  • Plans and coordinates food service and delivery operations with internal departments.
  • Responsible for other duties as set by Associate Vice President
  • Responsible for compliance with Local, State, and Federal requirements and laws regarding nutrition, sanitation, and safety regulation. Maintains an effective relationship with all key government contractor personnel.
  • Maintains, prepares, and reviews a variety of food production and deliverer records, inventories, logs, invoices, and reports; accumulates data and inputs information as appropriate, and files documents as necessary.


Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Must have all required certifications related to health and food safety, or commit to timely completion.
  • Experience and success working in partnership with an aging community, public housing residents, and community-based organizations.
  • Exemplary fiscal management, contract management, and performance management skills and experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree and four years of supervised experience in Human Service delivery.
  • Must have experience in high volume, multi-site, complex food service operations.

  • Strong training, mentoring, and coaching experience with a team with diverse levels of expertise
  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization and planning skills, judgment, and creative problem-solving skills. Proficient in all necessary technology applications. PeerPlace is a plus.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results-oriented
  • Superior management skills: the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports.
  • Required to work holidays, early mornings, and late evenings as per program needs.


Work Environment

  • Travel between sites
