Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, recruitment, developing, and guidance of designated staff members including: the Assistant Director of Nursing, the Regional Nursing Manager and all licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide clinical services at Community Health Centers. Responsible for ensuring that clinical education occurs prior to the use of devices and products. Has oversight of the Vaccine Program, Patient Education, Ancillary Services, Regulatory Compliance in Clinical Areas, Clinical Training, Infection Prevention & Control Program and all other duties assigned by COO.

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

  • Participate in periodically assessing work areas to ensure compliance with CHC's COVID-19 Plan Procedures.
  • Assist in the review of applications and resumes and in the interview process of applicants.
  • Coordinates with Leaders on clinical related issues and audits.
  • Work with all departments to ensure supplies, inventory, barriers, and other required COVID-19 Plan elements are in place.
  • Promote compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
    • Serve as a first level contact and response for COVID-19 safety and compliance concerns within each CHC facility.
  • May review and investigate patient complaints related to clinical operations and related patient satisfaction issues.
  • Participate on relevant committees involved in ensuring COVID-19 safety protocols are established and implemented that meet all applicable federal, state and local mandates, following guidance from Centers for Disease Control, and other guiding organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate location-specific COVID-19-related safety practices and protocols to all team members and act as a resource for COVID-19 safety information.
  • Consults with Providers regarding issues involving clinical processes.
  • Collaborates with Leaders on clinical protocols.
  • Collaborates with organizational leadership to identify objectives and strategies for performance improvement in care coordination, communication and management of patient care.
  • Assists in supporting clinical staff meetings at each center.
  • Be present or available for COVID-19 related safety concerns.
  • Practical orientation to include assessment of all clinical skills that team members will be expected to perform on a routine basis.
  • Ensure that all team members know and follow established safe work procedures in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Communicate safety information.
    • Participate on relevant committees involved in ensuring COVID-19 safety protocols are established and implemented that meet all applicable federal, state and local mandates, following guidance from Centers for Disease Control, and other guiding organizations.
  • Act as a liaison Finance, Human Resources, MIS, Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Operations or other key areas.
  • In collaboration with Center Leaders, will conduct random medical record reviews using standardized CHC audit sheets for clinical documentation for all sites. Reviews will be completed at a minimum quarterly.
  • Provides direct supervision and guidance for the Clinical Float Pool, Ancillary Services, Woman's Health, Patients Educators, and the Care Transition Specialist staff. Matrix structure applies for all other clinical team members.
  • Serves as OSHA Safety Coordinator
    • Communicate safety information.
      • Participate on relevant committees involved in ensuring COVID-19 safety protocols are established and implemented that meet all applicable federal, state and local mandates, following guidance from Centers for Disease Control, and other guiding organizations.
    • Attend relevant team meetings to ensure team members have the knowledge necessary to follow CHC's COVID-19 Plan Procedures.
    • Participate in periodically assessing work areas to ensure compliance with CHC's COVID-19 Plan Procedures.
    • Communicate location-specific COVID-19-related safety practices and protocols to all team members and act as a resource for COVID-19 safety information.
    • Ensure that all team members know and follow established safe work procedures in accordance with safety protocols.
    • Promote compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
      • Serve as a first level contact and response for COVID-19 safety and compliance concerns within each CHC facility.
    • Ensure any identified compliance or safety concern is readily corrected.
    • Work with all departments to ensure supplies, inventory, barriers, and other required COVID-19 Plan elements are in place.
    • Ensure continuous coverage for responding to safety concerns.
      • Be present or available for COVID-19 related safety concerns.
    • Coordinates with Leaders on clinical related issues and audits.
    • In collaboration with Center Leaders, will conduct random medical record reviews using standardized CHC audit sheets for clinical documentation for all sites. Reviews will be completed at a minimum quarterly.
    • Consults with Providers regarding issues involving clinical processes.
    • Informs Executive Team and/or Regional Directors of clinical support issues (except minor day to day matters) including any proposed policy or procedural changes, disciplinary actions, problems with Providers.
    • Act as a liaison Finance, Human Resources, MIS, Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Operations or other key areas.
    • In collaboration with the VP/COO, determines clinical support staffing requirements.
    • May review and investigate patient complaints related to clinical operations and related patient satisfaction issues.
    • Assist in the review of applications and resumes and in the interview process of applicants.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Performs an annual review and updates of the Clinical Policy and Procedures.
  • Designated as the infection prevention and control health care professional that will maintain training in infection control, competence in infection control, and provide oversight of CHC's Infection Prevention and Control program.
  • In collaboration with the VP/COO, determines clinical support staffing requirements.
  • Provides oversight of staff orientation (theory and practical) in conjunction with other Leaders for all newly hired clinical staff.
    • Theory orientation to include the CHC Clinical Policy and Procedures, AAAHC, and Federal Grant requirements that involve clinical staff.
  • Maintains access for Clinical support staff of Florida Newborn access and EHR Hospital access.
  • Attend relevant team meetings to ensure team members have the knowledge necessary to follow CHC's COVID-19 Plan Procedures.
  • Ensure continuous coverage for responding to safety concerns.
    • Be present or available for COVID-19 related safety concerns.
  • Evaluates the process for monitoring of in-house medications and vaccines for utilization and expiration, vaccine use and inventories. Responsible for the management of the Vaccine For Children's (VFC) Program, Vaccine for Adults (VFA) Program, and the Florida Shots program.
  • Theory orientation to include the CHC Clinical Policy and Procedures, AAAHC, and Federal Grant requirements that involve clinical staff.
  • Ensure any identified compliance or safety concern is readily corrected.
  • Informs Executive Team and/or Regional Directors of clinical support issues (except minor day to day matters) including any proposed policy or procedural changes, disciplinary actions, problems with Providers.
  • Serve as a first level contact and response for COVID-19 safety and compliance concerns within each CHC facility.
  • Coordinates with Leaders in performing periodic assessments to determine deficiencies and recommendations in clinical performance at all sites. Examples of performance assessments include Log Management, Clinical Skills, and Policies and Procedures.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the healthcare setting, including supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with X-Ray and Lab operations preferred

Certification/Licensure:

  • Must maintain a valid Florida Driver's license.
  • Current/valid BLS or must be obtained within the first 30-days of employment.
  • Current/valid Florida RN license

Special Skills:

  • Must have flexibility and ability manage multiple obligations and set priorities.
  • Bilingual capability helpful
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills:

  • E-mail, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must obtain CHC super user-level competence in eCW within 90-days of employment.

Other requirements:

  • Able to work flexible hours as needed.
