POSITION TITLE: Director of Membership & Marketing


REPORTS TO: General Manager CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

Founded in 1947, Coral Ridge Yacht Club is a member-owned Private Club located in Southeast Florida. Our membership of 450 enjoys several dining options in our newly renovated 30,000 sq ft. Clubhouse. Club amenities include Food and Dining, Olympic sized Swimming Pool, The Pointe, a 56 Slip Marina, Fitness and Sailing.


MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club is to provide our diverse membership a high-quality private Club experience, rich with opportunities to engage in social, dining, yachting, and recreational activities, distinguished by modern amenities, in a friendly, welcoming environment.


JOB SUMMARY (Essential Functions):

The Director of Membership & Marketing will provide direction and oversite for all membership functions of the Club and work closely with the General Manager, designated liaison from the Board of Governors, and the Membership Committee to achieve desired membership goals and financial success.

This position will serve as the Club’s liaison for current and prospective members. The Director’s primary focus will be to enhance overall club communications with the membership and prospective members.

The Membership Department administers programs, projects and activities designed to increase and retain membership in the club. The Director will assist members with their inquiries, questions, correspondence, orientation, and membership engagement initiatives. The candidate chosen for this position will seek to increase exposure to the Club, as well as work to establish, maintain, and cultivate key relationships with other community-based organizations.

• Naturally outgoing, enthusiastic, motivated, conversant, respectful, and diplomatic, but able to say “no” when appropriate without alienating members or staff while doing so. Being respectfully confident and “connected” to the membership and team is critical, as is the ability to work with leadership to determine relevant rules and enforcement practices and deliver them in a diplomatic, firm, and consistent manner.

• Ability to maintain confidential proprietary company information.

• Possess excellent verbal and exceptional written communication skills to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

• Lead by example by utilizing a “hands-on” approach to management.

• Possess exceptional project management, time management, and organizational skills to monitor and maintain milestones and progress. Ability to organize and complete work in accordance with established timelines.

• Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects and shift priorities based on business demands.

• Have a passion for providing high-quality member service and a commitment to exceeding expectations.

• Excellent knowledge of Club/Membership or 5 Star Customer Service practices, and operational procedures.

• Ability to proactively lead a Team with a transparent and uplifting, inspirational style.

• Be responsive versus reactive; an exceptional communicator and listener.

• Possess strong technical literacy, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills, working knowledge of POS systems and restaurant reservations management systems.


TASKS/DUTIES:

• Effectively respond to club members, prospective members, and realtors with inquiries regarding Club Dues, Rules & Policies in accordance with Club standards.

• Effectively manage the membership application process. Prepare/execute member and prospective member correspondence; follow up on all prospective and new member communication.

• Provide tour of Club, reciprocal privileges, dockage/boat slip requests etc.

• Perform New Member Orientations, individually or in a group, including a review of the Club rules and regulations and communicating any changes to the membership of the rules and regulations.

• Coordinate and host new and prospective member mixers, membership-related open houses, and member-planned events.

• Coordinate the mailing out of membership renewal letters and the printing of membership cards.

• Attend and present at monthly Board of Governors meeting.

• Maintain and update the disciplinary reports/letters notebooks. Coordinate the writing of the disciplinary letters as directed by the Commodore and GM.

• Serve as a facilitator of the Rules and Regulations including creating agenda for meetings.

• Supervise the member tracking system; maintaining confidential information, and properly recorded/filed. Member information must be updated on an ongoing basis.

• Manage the budget reconciliation, submit, and maintain purchase requisitions, and maintain all records of expenses for the membership department; prepare and manage the membership department’s annual budget.

• Function as liaison with the Board of Governors and perform other duties as required, e.g., attendance at Rules & Regulations and Membership Committee meetings as needed.

• Introduce potential members to club members with similar interests, backgrounds, business experiences, and mutual friends.

• Submit all membership payroll information accurately and on a timely basis.

• Maintain membership statistics of month-to-date and year-to-date figures.

• Plan to promote and generate enthusiasm and interest for the Club's social activities; coordinate the efforts of volunteers, hired participants, and the Club's staff.

• Answer phone calls and oversee all correspondence for membership and general operations.

• Lead effort in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring team members; conduct performance appraisals, coach and counsel, progressive corrective action, motivate, develop, and train.

• Ensure compliance with all membership policies, standards, and procedures by training, supervising, follow-up, and hands-on management.

• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in completing duties related to matters of significance.

• As an executive of the Club you are expected to conduct yourself as a leader of the Club, support the decisions of the Board, Committees, and management to promote the Club.


DESIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with a concentration in Business and/or Hospitality.

• 3-5 years of professional hospitality experience with at least one of those years in Sales at a Management level or equivalent, preferably in a private club operation.

• Superior project management skills and demonstrated flexibility.

• Effective negotiating, critical reasoning, interpersonal skills, and outstanding networking abilities.

• Proficient and working knowledge of computers and software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access). Well versed in: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer/Edge, HTML, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Enjoys taking photos, videos, and creating content to share with our membership. Proficiency in technology to consistently improve the service experience to members. Exceptional copy editing and proofing skills.

• The ability to interact with members and guests as well as oversee all administrative functions as it relates to the member files including dues and payments.

• Experience working with Northstar Club Management software a plus.

• Demonstrated strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills, written, oral, and interpersonal. A passion to provide high-quality member services.

• A broad familiarity of the Club’s local market area.

• An in-depth knowledge of Coral Ridge Yacht Club’s amenities/services.
