JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Maintenance organizes, directs, controls, and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance through a team of front-line supervisors and operational leads. Provides technical leadership for mechanics assigned to all aspects of aircraft maintenance, including but not limited to, base maintenance, line maintenance, and back-shops to ensure workflow throughout the maintenance organization. Develop and maintain aircraft schedules and resource budgets in support of key performance indicators (KPI’s). Ensure Safety, Quality, Schedules, and Commitments are met.
Essential Functions:
- Create and maintain an effective training program for department employees.
- Ensure that the work orders approved are aligned with the broader strategic objectives and fall within the allocated budget.
- Create, implement, and directs maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules for the maintenance organization.
- Work with managers and supervisors to create a safe working environment.
- Accountable for the overall management, performance, and well-being of the maintenance team.
- Actively review the performance of their subordinates.
- Assumes other duties as directed by the General Manager.
- Analyze reports and take measures to optimize operations.
- Oversee core operations, including facility maintenance, property management, etc., and establish, maintain, and report KPI’s.
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process of new talent that joins the maintenance team.
Required Education & Experience:
- Facilities and Material Management Should have ample experience with managing facilities and aircraft parts/material such as ramp, hangar, back-shops, GSE, etc. This includes an understanding of requirements and challenges of track-and-trace and preventative maintenance programs.
- Aircraft Maintenance Management 15-years’ experience in all aspects of aircraft maintenance, materials, and quality practices and interfacing with the regulatory agencies, customers, manufacturers, and in accordance with repair station manuals and standards.
- Safety Management Proactively promote a safety-first culture by ensuring you and your team understand and comply with the proper use of equipment and all relevant safety rules and regulations.
- License/Certifications - This position requires an A&P Mechanic license and 10-plus years of experience as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic working with large commercial aircraft or transports.
- Education - maintenance director should at least have a high school diploma. A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as: aerospace, engineering, business management is preferred.
- Supervisory Experience - Requires 5-plus years supervisory experience in an MRO environment and airline or OEM experience is a plus.
- Leadership Experience Must have 10-years’ experience in leading large teams and will be required to demonstrate ability to guide, motivate, and address personal action plans with employees within their organization.
- Budgeting/Scheduling Experience Must have at least 5-years of budgeting and scheduling experience and the ability to create execution strategies accordingly.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following strengths:
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- COMPUTER SKILLS - Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project along with experience with ERP systems such as Corridor, Quantum, SAP, etc.

- Detailed oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining a culture of safety, people, schedules, and execution.
- Excellent job performance in productivity and quality.
- Dedication through attendance.

Mostly a sedentary position, normal walking, bending, stooping, and lifting required. This employee must be able to function around aircraft including climbing stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to visually interpret written text, prepare written documents, communicate by telephone, and use a computer.
