Founded in Brooklyn in 2016, King David Tacos is a woman-owned CPG / Hospitality hybrid food company, focused on making a better on-the-go breakfast. Our breakfast tacos are critically-acclaimed, and we have established the breakfast taco market in New York.
We operate out of our 4000 sf production facility in Prospect Heights. Our products are straightforward but require great attention to detail. We produce all of our ingredients and menu items daily and then package our breakfast tacos for grab’n’go. We are a vertically-integrated, omnichannel business, currently distributing our breakfast tacos across Retail (brick & mortar and mobile), Wholesale (daily distribution to coffee shops / cafes), and Catering.

We are seeking someone who loves to build systems, grow teams and watch them run for our Director of Logistics. This person would be a self-described efficiency nerd–someone who gets a kick out of watching perfectly planned details flourish, but enjoys the problem solving challenges equally as much.
This role will act as the essential link between operations and the on-the-ground execution of our daily deliveries to our own Retail locations, our Retail Partners, Catering clients, and individual customers. This role will report to our Director of Operations, and oversees the Logistics Team, including Drivers.
Our logistics are a mix of ready-to-eat (hot) and refrigerated distribution. This role will be helping us to bolster those networks and processes, as well as to build out a cold chain / frozen distribution channel.
We're looking for a leader and a problem-solver, who will help us with scalability and consistency as we expand regionally and nationally.
As a breakfast business, the day starts early. The role is 5 days / week, will include weekends, and starts between 5am and 6am.
Half of the role’s responsibilities happen during delivery hours (6a-10a), followed by administrative / operational responsibilities which wrap up at approximately 2pm. Timeliness and an appreciation for being an early bird are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate delivery vehicle repairs and maintenance when necessary
  • Provide on-site management at events when necessary
  • Train all Drivers on standards of customer service
  • Manage the P&L related to logistics activities (e.g. driver cost) and report / evaluate performance on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Manage and mentor the Logistics team, who complete some of the following duties day-to-day as well
  • Work with full Operations team to continuously improve the customer experience and operational efficiency
  • Commitment to the company and upholding the standards of the brand
  • Communicate with customers about KDT products and services via inquiries through email and phone
  • Communicate with vendors, purveyors, and partners regarding order questions, resolving any issues, making order updates, and reconciling orders when needed
  • Evaluate logistics (both on-time and cost effectiveness) performance regularly, taking action to correct and train Drivers (both W-2 and Contract) where needed
  • Compile and organize the daily order schedule and instructions, distribute via email each day
  • Onboard and train new Retail Partner accounts, assisting in the sales process
  • Strategize to achieve the best possible outcome across all channels–wholesale, retail and catering
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to create, implement, and optimize logistics systems
  • Manage scheduling and payroll reporting for Drivers and hourly Logistics staff
  • Oversee AM Packaging and Delivery Operations, ensuring the pack-out runs smoothly and to standard
  • Work with Production team to ensure QC protocol is being followed and execute corrective action when needed
  • Ensure deliveries leave the kitchen and arrive to their final destination on time (via delivery software monitoring)
  • Visit Retail Partners regularly, for relationship-building, in-the-field training and QC checks
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively, and remain cool and calm under pressure (we are in a time-sensitive business!)
  • NYC DOHMH Food Protection Certificate (NYC Food Handler’s License) preferred
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
  • HACCP or PCQI Training not required but a major plus
  • Previous managerial experience of a team of at least 3 people
  • Desire to work in food and grow within the company
  • Early morning and weekend availability is required
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to maneuver within a team and communicate with accuracy, clarity and speed
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Ability to reach, bend, squat and frequently move up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Driver License and the willingness and confidence to drive in NYC
  • 4+ years of Operations or Logistics-specific experience, within a food operation preferred
  • Reliable and accountable, with a focus on a team mentality
  • Capable of retaining and executing details
  • Computer savvy. Skillful knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, G-Suite required. ERP and routing software experience is a plus.

Compensation
This position is an overtime-exempt salaried position with the expectation of working approximately 45 hours/week. The salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000, depending on experience.
