Custom Computer Specialists is looking for a K-12 IT director to join our team onsite at one of clients. This person is responsible for the stewardship, direction and daily operation of all aspects of Information Technology (IT) in a K-12 school district. This individual is responsible for IT infrastructure (networking, servers, operating systems, applications and support) as well as Instructional Technology including but not limited to: assessment tools, curriculum and course development, student information systems, test development, virtual learning environments, course management systems, wiki’s and moodle, audio visual tools, library management systems, whiteboards and a variety of audio-visual and classroom technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • ISP management – internet connectivity reliability, speed and cost
  • Student Information System (SIS) configuration, maintenance and performance
  • Stewardship over instructional technology toolset, selection and direction of tools
  • Project management of IT Infrastructure initiatives
  • End-user devices – workstations, tablets, laptops, smartphones, smartboards & AV
  • Configuration and support of all classroom hardware
  • Network performance – routers, switches, firewalls, filters, LAN connections
  • Innovation and improvement of all aspects of IT
  • Server performance and capacity
  • Development and Implementation of 3-Yr IT Strategic Plan
  • Leadership / Stewardship
  • Leadership of IT Planning Committee
  • IT support – direction and management of technician team
  • Performance monitoring of IT team/staff
  • Establishment in collaboration with instructional and operational leadership strategic direction for infrastructure and instructional technology
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Configuration and support of all instructional technology tools and applications
  • Instructional Technology

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytic and data reporting skills
  • Previous experience building and growing IT operations team/teams
  • Previous experience managing IT Operations in a K-12 environment (preferred)
  • Previous budgetary responsibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong professional presence and presentation skills
  • Certification or demonstrable experience with Quality Management systems (ITIL, HDI, Cobit, ISO, etc.)
