Job Title:Director of Engineering

Reports To:VP of Hotel Operations

Summary

The Director of Engineering will provide oversight, leadership and accountability for facilities, engineering, and maintenance operational performance to achieve the financial, strategic, and operational goals of Indus Hospitality Group, and protect the physical assets of the company. Key areas of responsibility will include hotel engineering support, creation, and implementation of engineering operations SOPs, driving the capital expenditure process for all hotel facilities; and dotted line oversight of all hotel engineering and maintenance department`s in conjunction with hotel General Managers. This role will additionally be called upon to collaborate with design and construction in support of renovations and new buildings. This role will collaborate with the above property leadership team to identify and implement the most effective and efficient Engineering support business model to accommodate operating, growth & scalability goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Ensure maintenance supply PAR levels are properly maintained.
• Participate in comprehensive Safety Program – including safety awareness; training; incident tracking and management.
• Assist with resolving Maintenance Work Orders.
• Support Indus Operating Budget and Capital Expenditure Process including budgeting, forecasting, bidding, and selection of potential contractors. Documents with each property, full Capital process including 10-year Capital planning for all hotels. Involved in Property improvement plans.
• Follow up on projects and assignments.
• Identify, develop, and implement SOPs to support operational systems supporting Engineering Operations.
• Manage contracting and accounting process for all projects through administrative and accounting staff.
• Coordinate work according to established project schedules and business demands at the hotels.
• Identify, develop, document, and implement an Energy Conservation program at all hotels to minimize utility costs, and coordinate utilities. Ensure Brand “Green Initiative” Compliance.
• Initiate, execute, and manage purchase orders and contracts to contractors in accordance with scope of work and established standards for each project. Maintain files for order correspondence, specifications and drawings as required.
• Participate in development and updating of Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness manuals at all hotels with appropriate SOPs and procedures.
• Negotiate system-wide engineering contracts with third party vendors on behalf of Indus Hospitality Group (e.g., Elevator maintenance contracts; hood cleaning; HVAC cleaning; laundry equipment maintenance; snowplow, landscaping, Sprinkler, Fire Protection, Ice Machine, etc.). Leverage relationships with Entegra procurement platform.
• Assist in identifying, developing, and implementing required safety, technical, and OSHA training at all hotels.
• Supervise and ensure SOP compliance for all hotel Engineering Departments relating to the operation and maintenance of all buildings and systems, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
• Hotel Staffing Models – review all hotels engineering and maintenance staffing models and consult with General Managers, HR & above property VP of Hotel Operations to identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with established Purchasing Procedures, including insurance, risk transfer, and lien release procedures.
• Interview and approve all Chief Engineers/Hotel Maintenance hired at all hotels.
• Identify, develop, document, and implement the operational policies, procedures, plans and programs for the Engineering/Maintenance Departments of all Hotels.
• Develop and administer building and facilities Audits program; by continually updating existing Audit program; and ensuring audits are conducted at all hotels according to the prescribed timeline.
• Document, coordinate and ensure compliance of preventive maintenance programs of all building equipment and guest rooms and public areas of all hotels.

Job Requirements

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
• Minimum 10 years of direct experience in physical site operations, facilities management, or a related field.
• Firm understanding of construction codes, practices and standards.
• We are looking for a self-motivatedDirector of Engineeringwith a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations with great communication skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to present complex data to facilitate analysis and decision-making. Ability to summarize information for senior management consumption.
• Ability to travel for property audits and inspections, minimum 25%.
• Project management experience related to the upgrading and/or replacement of major building systems.
• Experience with real time energy monitoring systems as well as computerized maintenance management systems.
• Specific qualifications for the role include:
• Knowledge of Energy Star Labeling of buildings and the USGBC LEED certification programs.
• Experience with central plant maintenance (Boilers; PTAC, Water Treatment; etc.) and the operating and maintenance of buildings and systems.
