Job Description

The Director of Coaching (soccer) is expected to lead the efforts to ensure the growth and success of the GFI Academy at one of our Houston campus locations. The Director of Coaching must have a strong soccer background and technical expertise to lead the GFI coaching staff. The Director should possess exceptional communication skills and be able to resolve conflict in a professional manner.


The Director of Coaching is a full-time position requiring a non-traditional work schedule of daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Travel is required. The Director will have regular exposure to outdoor activities and weather conditions.


Duties include:


•Recruitment, background check, and selection, guidance, development and evaluation of coaching staff.

•Oversee all GFI pillar programs of club for the Spring Branch location.

•Responsible for working with General Manager, BOD and appropriate club authorities on applicable club tournaments, camps, and player retention program.

•Design and implement coaching education program utilizing blend of classroom (curriculum) and field sessions (application) that allows for evaluation and feedback.

•Meet regularly with GFI Spring Branch coaches.

•Develop, oversee and manage GFI Spring Branch pillar Talent ID and Recruitment Strategy.

•Establish effective player selection process for use during Talent ID.

•Coordinate, oversee, and direct Talent ID for all age groups out of the Spring Branch location of GFI.

•Host annual Parent Orientation Night at conclusion of Talent ID process.

•Approve tournament schedules for GFI Spring Branch teams, consistent with philosophies of GFI and needs of individual teams and assist teams with choosing appropriate tournaments and playing leagues.

•Other duties as assigned or required by General Manager and Board of Directors.

•Serve as GFI representative at applicable league meetings, and lead meetings when necessary.

•Ensure accurate and timely completion of all administrative requirements for GFI Spring Branch program teams.

•Report to General Manager and BOD, and work closely and collaboratively with General Manager and BODs, in day-to-day operations of the club pertaining to GFI Spring Branch programs.

•Maintain positive relationships and open communication with BOD, GM, coaching staff, team managers, parents, players, and community at large.

•Provide semi-annual written evaluations to coaching staff out of the GFI Spring Branch location.

•Assist in the development of annual club budget pertaining to GFI Spring Branch programs.

•Hiring and termination of coaching staff, subject to General Manager / BOD approval.


Requirement -


•USSF National “B” coaching license (or foreign equivalent). Appropriate combination of playing and coaching experience commensurate with an advanced license may be considered.

•Proficient use of e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

•Background check required through US Club and US Youth Soccer

•Unrestricted Authorization to work for any employer in the United States - No Visa Sponsorship is available for this role


Billingual in Spanish / English Preferred


Salary Range - $48k per year
