Full Time; Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- The Director of Laboratory Services reports directly to the Vice President, Ancillary Services.
- Must show documentation of successful completion of a Clinical Laboratory Science training program.
- Effective communication by the leader as well as trust and confidence in leaders are the most reliable predictors of employee engagement and satisfaction in an organization.
- Articulating a clear view of the preferred future, resulting from global analysis, in order to lead other people and the organization to this desired or preferred future.
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits. SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS
- Must provide documentation of passing a National Certification exam (ASCP, CSA, etc.). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. - Creating and sustaining cultures that support laboratory staff to do their best work. Be skilled communicators, team builders, agents for positive change, committed to service, results oriented and role models for collaborative practice.
- Minimum of four years laboratory experience. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
- Collaboratively works with all organization leaders, including the Medical Director of the Laboratory.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Unwavering commitment to innovate and transform the work of professional laboratory science and the courage to move from “working within a framework” (transactional leader) to one of “working to change the framework” (transformational leader). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Assess, manage and develop oneself in order to preserve and optimize relationships and add value to the outcomes of Midland Memorial Hospital. This requires skill in the core competencies of self-knowledge, strategic vision, risk-taking and creativity, interpersonal and communication effectiveness and inspiration.
- Specialist eligible. (Chemistry (SC), Hematology (SH), Microbiology (SM), Blood Bank (SBB)
- Supervises Managers/ Coordinators and staff of the division.
- Being visible and constantly communicating with the workforce, the reality and magnitude of change, the plan for transition and opportunities that exist for them.
