Job Description

Summary:

The Director of Distribution and Warehouse Operations will be responsible for providing direction and leadership for tactical as well as long term, strategic Distribution and Warehouse activities. This position is accountable for P/L development and management, warehouse safety programs, capital planning, personnel development, identifying and implementing process/system changes to drive efficiency gains and personnel safety. This position also has responsibility for product food safety in the warehousing and distribution operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Maintain a clean and organized facility that is safe and “tour ready" at all times.
  • Produce performance reports and executive summary reports weekly.
  • Must be a strong collaborator and team player to be successful in role.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within Distribution and Warehousing by retaining, and developing world-class diverse talent.
  • Oversee multi-site, multi-temperature, multi-shift warehouse operation totaling 500K+ square feet of raw materials and finished goods. Annualized volumes of over 5M shipments, four direct reports and up to two hundred indirect reports during peak season.
  • Manage productivity data and implement programs for continual improvement.
  • Lead and operate in an efficient/cost conscious manner to meet or exceed budgeted objectives
  • Responsible for developing and managing P/L and capital plans.
  • Management of key building metrics, accomplishments, and implementation of action steps
  • Assures adequate coverage for staff absences to assure food safety, legality, and quality.
  • Maintain raw material and finished good inventory accuracy levels of 99%.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Accountable for strategic and tactical planning within areas of responsibility.
  • Develop a “world-class” operation’s team through process/system improvement, organizational partnership, and associate development.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, training, and performance of all warehouse personnel.
  • Assure SQF requirements are met in Warehousing, supporting the SQF practitioners and delivering safe, legal, and high quality products.
  • Conduct scheduled safety meetings with managers and associates on a monthly basis, assuring workplace safety in maintained.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Strong tactical management experience.
  • Experience with developing and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operations and financial objectives.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing WMS and LMS programs.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a business related field is required; 10+ years of Distribution and Warehousing experience
  • Experience managing at least 200 non-exempt associates reporting indirectly to this position.
