Job Summary
This is a leadership role that provides direction and leadership in overall global strategy and management of Cloud, and Data Center (DC) operations. This includes selection, implementation, standardization, and management of Engineering and IT (E&IT) Cloud and DC infrastructure operations. The scope of the role includes management of data centers, cloud infrastructure, server systems, storage, virtualization/containerization, infrastructure software development, working with network and security teams, and stakeholder communications.
The role manages the infrastructure systems engineers and architects. This role also manages the development of strategy, planning and execution of the E&IT core systems disaster recovery management process, E&IT policies and procedures annual maintenance, and the direct management (Chair) of E&IT’s Internal Steering Committee.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Mentor and facilitate professional growth for direct reports.
- Manages IT infrastructure projects including design, budget, and resource assignments.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
- Direct change, problem, and asset management process and procedure.
- Manage 24/7 on-call coverage of IT infrastructure.Provide evaluation and mentoring for direct reports on performance.
- Manage daily operation and staff supporting global IT infrastructure.
- Operations KPI’s and provide reports to executive management on service availability and infrastructure performance.
- Plan and manage budget for the IT infrastructure in coordination with E&IT senior leadership.
- Accountable for planning and efficient use of budget.
- Manage and provide direction on resolution of escalated support incidents from a technical and organizational policy perspective.
- Ensure compliance with all required security protocols and applicable standards.
- Direct staff on software development projects for infrastructure automation.
- Act as a thought leader acting as a critical part of a senior E&IT management team.
- Establish long term IT infrastructure strategy, goals, policies, and procedures for Cloud & DC, and Operations.
- Provide evaluation and mentoring for direct reports on performance.
- Manages and provide direction to systems engineers and architects on design and implementation of highly available/distributed services.
- Direct global data center and cloud operations: lifecycle of all systems, virtualization, containers, continuous integration/delivery, databases, object storage, messaging systems, storage, server networks, disaster recovery, and backup systems.
- Establishes performance benchmarks and creates regular performance reports.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Significant senior leadership experience leading IT Services and Project Management process design experience (ITIL, ITSM, and PMI best practices implementation).
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups.
- Software development experience and software engineering process knowledge required.
- Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
- Experience administering VMWare vSphere and associated infrastructure.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Working technical knowledge of modern network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6), BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
- The ability to work collaboratively with diverse functions and levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated experience in leading IT security initiatives for mid to large scale companies including leading initiatives at the network, system and end point level.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a rapidly changing culture.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience administering Openshift infrastructure.
- Advanced Linux/Unix and Windows Active Directory systems administration knowledge.
- Experience administering Kubernetes clusters and associated infrastructure.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks under time constraints; diplomacy and ability to deal effectively with people.
- Experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure administration.
- Working technical knowledge of relational databases like MSSQL or MySQL.
- Previous experience managing 3rd party service providers to contractual agreements and customer satisfaction requirements.
- Experienced in cost reduction and cost control initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 7-10 years systems and network engineering experience and project management leadership (full life cycle implementation).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or other relevant field.
- 12 years’ experience leading a global infrastructure team within global corporate environments.
- 10 years of direct management experience including budgetary responsibility.
