American Humane is seeking an experienced Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships . The position reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Corporate and Cause Marketing. Position summary:


The Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships is responsible for securing diverse sources of revenue, including philanthropic giving, cause marketing, workplace giving and sponsorships from existing and prospective companies, corporate foundations, and other institutions. With a focus on generating new corporate, cause marketing and foundation partnerships and lead generation, the Director, will play a critical role in diversifying American Humane’s corporate and foundation philanthropy and strategic growth goals.


Responsible for soliciting and closing six- and seven-figure gifts, the Director will design and execute a fundraising strategy to build and grow their own portfolio, and as the team grows, will lead future team members to do the same for their portfolios. The person in this position will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and implement funding opportunities at the five-, six-, and seven figure levels.


Responsibilities:


Lead Generation and Portfolio Management:


  • Develop customized value propositions, proposals and cultivation strategies for priority industries.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in corporate sponsorship, foundation grants, and cause marketing.
  • Build and steward a portfolio of partnerships generating $2-4M in philanthropic revenue annually to support American Humane’s strategic plan through prospecting and cultivation at events and conferences, including vetting inbound opportunities.


Strategy:


  • Work closely with the AVP and Chief Development Officer (CDO) to maximize corporate support of the annual Hero Dog Awards and coordinate appropriate tracking and analysis documents to monitor year-over-year involvement and other metrics.
  • Develop and manage in-kind and workplace giving donor opportunities and develop a strategy and plans to cultivate engagement and support.
  • Work in partnership with the AVP, Corporate and Cause Marketing to execute American Humane’s existing partnership strategy and devise new ways to recognize corporate, cause marketing, and foundation donors.
  • Develop and track annual goals, objectives, and specific metrics for the Corporate and Foundation Partnerships team. Create annual work plans and analyze results against goals, adjusting business unit plans as analysis suggests.


Operational Support and Leadership Engagement:


  • Enters new lead and prospect information into the CRM; supports ongoing management and refreshing of CRM data.
  • Other duties as assigned by the AVP, Corporate and Cause Marketing.
  • Collaborates with and supports Account Manager(s) work tactics, project deliverables and resource requirements to support partnership account strategies.
  • Represent American Humane by attending and participating in external meetings and events.
  • Develop, manage and track annual revenue targets (forecasts and actual) for corporate and foundation revenue; develop and provide regular updates to department leadership, including: AVP, Corporate and Cause Marketing, AVP, Development Operations, and Chief Development Officer.
  • Work collaboratively across functional teams outside the fundraising team including programs, marketing, communications, events, and legal.


Essential experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • A passion for the American Humane mission and the animals and people we serve.
  • Six to eight years proven experience in corporate and foundation fundraising, cause marketing, and business development.
  • Able to work well both independently, with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn Raiser’s Edge fundraising software and new technology.
  • Ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations from scratch.
  • Highly skilled at building internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to shift gears quickly and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to successfully cultivate and solicit and secure six and seven figure gifts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Teams, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits sound judgement, discretion, diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Understanding of cause marketing best practices and BBB guidelines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Physical demands and work environment:


  • Must be able to work from a computer screen and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time as well as talk, hear and exchange information over the telephone, computer and in person.
  • Must be comfortable with occasional animals, in particular dogs, in the office or at work related events.
  • Position may be remotely based with strong preference for being based on the East Coast. Remote telework requirements are based on organizational policy, need and manager discretion.
  • Ability to travel, estimated 25%, and work some evenings and weekends.
