Position Overview
The Business Development Director (BDD) is responsible for meeting their territory sales awards goal by developing, directing, and executing a geographic territory-based field sales strategy. The BDD territory plan includes activities such as meeting current clients to build strong commercial relationships and customer loyalty, while assessing opportunities to expand our business with the client. Activities also include identifying and developing new prospective clients through prospecting activities including attendance at regional meetings and face-to-face meetings at client locations. The BDD works closely with Inotiv’s technical/SMEs and professional staff leveraging their expertise to ensure Inotiv is the preferred partner for the services offered and in the best position to exceed client expectations while developing the business relationship.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information to effectively communicate territory activities, opportunity status, and achievements. Timely updates into salesforce.com
  • Participate in local networking groups such as regional SOT meetings and Bio meetings
  • Develop and qualify leads that are provided through company-led marketing efforts or self-initiated through territory/account prospecting activities
  • Make recommendations internally for new processes and services to solve unmet needs and/or improve our client’s experience
  • Develop and provide proposals, and supportive documentation to facilitate contract awards
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients’ organizational structures, decision making process and build relationships throughout scientific and executive levels
  • Uncover relevant discovery and development opportunities and become the focal point for providing Inotiv’s collective solutions and expertise.
  • 30-40% travel depending on geographic location.
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Interact with the community and employees
  • Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed.
  • Coordinate internal project teams to support client requests and anticipated needs
  • Lead and participate in customer support efforts to build strong customer loyalty
  • Provide market data, competitive intelligence, and other such information to assist Inotiv’s continual improvement efforts and planning
Qualifications
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Capability to multi-task and at times to instill a productive sense of urgency
  • Three to five years of field sales experience in the CRO industry or a related life-science sector
  • High degree of self-motivation and professionalism.
  • Highly developed communication skills (written & verbal). Listening and presentation skills.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered.
  • This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues in a creative and positive manner and effectively maneuver through complex situations – internal and external
  • BS/BA degree in related science or business subject.
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
  • Utilize consultative selling skills; From identifying opportunities through closing new business
  • Experience with a CRM such as SalesForce

  • Understanding of the drug discovery and development process including Efficacy Screening, DMPK, Preclinical, Bioanalytical, Clinical
