Designer (brand/visual)
Part-time
Remote or on-site (US timezone)
San Francisco, CA
$80k - $140k (pro rata to part-time 20-30 hrs/week)
About this role
In this role you’ll be working directly on the robot or other physical system components. We’re looking for a generalist designer with skills in brand/visual design and product design. The work in the medium term will likely be roughly 80% brand/visual + 20% product.
This is a contract role, with the potential to become a full-time employee
Salary
$80k - $140k (pro rata to part-time 20-30 hrs/week)
Visa Sponsorship Not Available
Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas at this time.
Remote or on-site work policy
This role can be either remote or on-site.
Part-time position
Ideal candidate traits
• You’re a self-starter. You make things happen, and you’re excited when they do. You’re fixed on the high of users raving about the look, feel, and voice of your work
• You’re smart because you learn fast and adapt. Problems are puzzles to you, and you’re in it for the journey
• You’re not an asshole. You can get passionate, but it doesn’t boil over. You might have a disdain for company politics, or at the least dislike them. You treat people with respect
• You believe AI is the future (and you are familiar with the space). Maybe not in a SkyNet type of way, nor an Ex Machina type of way, but in a trend-analyzed, first principles deduction type of way
• Your particular superpower is product and brand design. You’ve previously been able to craft a story into beautiful visuals and aesthetics. You have a keen eye for detail and quality. You understand what makes a product experience engaging and intuitive
• You enjoy concepting as well as executing. You can brainstorm the high-level aesthetics and define the guidelines, but also execute on specific tasks. You’ve created comprehensive brand deliverables such as identity, style guides, iconography, etc
Responsibilities
• You’ll bring our product and brand to life. We need someone who can amplify our engaging, lighthearted, to-the-point brand. This will include designing brand assets and visual materials, revamping broken or unintuitive product experiences, and refining our user-facing aesthetic. You will take ownership and be responsible for ensuring our design system and brand is cohesive.
• You’ll be able creative and iterate fast. We want you to bring a fresh take on what Respell is, tying together our brand in a non-traditional way. We’re not a simple company, and we have an opportunity to form a unique brand tailored towards both our consumer and business customers. You’ll be creating mockups and working with the team to refine them.
• You’ll concept and develop ideas. And probably many ideas and projects at once. The team will collaborate and have brainstorms but ultimately you’ll be able to run with those ideas and conceptualize them. You’ll help us transform deep strategic thinking into beautiful design.
• You’ll implement with us. We have a roadmap, but fully sticking to it is discouraged. We’ll work together on what’s coming up, in what order, and how. Most importantly, we’ll need to experiment and adapt.
• You’ll gain a deep understanding of the product. You’ll run projects end to end with engineers to drive your vision to the ship line, crafting every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution.
