Job Description

SUMMARY: Oversee and execute design projects from inception to completion as team leader in a dynamic environment. Provide design project management for multi-faceted projects including branding, wayfinding, environmental graphics and design systems. Deliver exceptional design solutions meeting budgets and timelines.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain positive client communications and relations that establish the highest level of trust and confidence; frequent client interaction to outline and achieve shared goals, address concerns and provide updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Complete in person site visits to project locations including active work sites (may include occasional local and out of state travel).
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines, budgets, and schedules with meticulous attention to detail in conjunction with a 30,000-foot view.
  • Lead creative solutions to enhance built environments through design planning, production, and delivery.
  • Enforce contractual obligations to ensure project delivery within scope of work. Influence approvals for scope additions and payables due.
  • Collaborate and communicate with executive leadership, ensuring company/team needs and expectations are met.
  • Direct design workflow from strategy and analysis to implementation; maintain documentation, ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Interface with freelancers, vendors, fabricators, and installers
  • Participate in/lead weekly progress meetings; ensure alignment with client and project goals
  • Connect frequently with clients and team members to assess project status, maintain financials, budgets and schedules including staff hours, submission of appropriate purchase orders and expenses and coordination of timely billing.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Collaborates with Principal and COO to ensure positive people management through team participation, empowerment, and accomplishment.
  • Directly supervises Associate Designer, Designer, and Sr. Designer roles.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, maintaining ongoing documentation.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven project management and leadership skills; ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Open to flexible schedule (outside regular business hours) for global project support and to ensure all deadlines are met. Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience managing construction related projects; familiarity with ADA compliance, wayfinding and branded environments, as well as budgeting and financial management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills; ability to effectively interact with clients, team members and external contacts.
  • In depth knowledge of design processes, principles and tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and/or Solidworks, Rhino, Revit, Sketchup or other computer design programs as well as Microsoft 365, project management tools, and Apple Mac products.
  • Commitment to excellence, high standards and continuous quality improvement with motivation for ongoing personal and team professional development.
  • A strong professional work ethic with the ability to work independently and as a member/leader of multi-disciplinary teams with diverse individuals.
  • 8+ years professional experience in a recognized firm, fabrication house or creative agency; 10 or more preferred.
  • Professional degree in Project Management, Graphic/Industrial Design or related field.
  • Passion and talent for design; creative mind set
