The Automation Design Engineer plans, organizes, and leads technical work related to design automation engineering activities. The automation engineer is responsible for the creation and maintenance of all documentation associated with design automation efforts and tasks. The Design Automation Engineer will design automation projects from creation, through validation, and sustainment.
Primary responsibilities for Automation Design Engineer will include:
· Conceptualize, design, and document custom in-house manufacturing equipment.
· Produce machine designs and detailed prints that comply with Production Development Systems engineering standards and project specifications.
· Ensure that all the documentation is updated and completed for the project.
· Support and facilitate all aspects of the project from machine order through machine installation, including customer communication.
· Responsible for accurately estimating and managing workload to maintain project schedule and budget.
· Perform procurement activities while managing the overall project bill of materials.
· Assist sales and service team as a technical subject matter expert.
· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications for Automation Design Engineer:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
· Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, or similar
· Knowledge of machine fabrication and manufacturing processes
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
· Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
