Dental Assistant Training Coordinator

Under direct supervision, coordinates curriculum and provides instruction/clinical supervision to students of Dental Assistant Training Program Performs all duties of Dental Assistant as required

• Works collaboratively with Dental Assistant Supervisor to develop and implement staff development programs as needed to address identified skill deficiencies
• Provides clinical supervision of students/trainees to assess competency levels
• Reviews a variety of continuing education offering; recommends programs, seminars and/or conferences as appropriate
• Provides didactic and clinical instruction to students/trainees by establishing clear, specific and measurable requirements, directions and outcomes
• Coordinates and delivers all required staff training including, but not limited to mandatory hospital training, CPR, in-service training programs and extramural continuing dental education
• Current basic CPR designation or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Assists in selecting participants for training program by reviewing submitted applications
• Maintains current department training log to provide timely documentation of completed educational programs in compliance with established licensing regulations and requirements
• Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
• One year experience as a Dental Assistant or completion of an approved training course for Dental Assistants; equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute
• Reviews and administers Dental Assistant Training Program curriculum to ensure coordination of educational programs and services meet established standards and methods of practice
• Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
