Role Overview
As a Delivery Director you will be responsible for leading a delivery team; ensuring customer deployment excellence; design and development of the technical project strategies, policies, processes and procedures; determining the best solutions to support the aggregate suite of business applications; as well as evaluating new and emerging technology products and services.
In order to succeed in this role, you must understand business objectives, and determine and document business process and requirements; while partnering with subject matter experts, project managers, and operational and other teams to deliver comprehensive information technology solutions. You will provide the technical leadership for the design, development and implementation of integrated business and technology solutions to delivery production ready solutions to meet the needs of the customer businesses. You must be able to quickly understand facing issues of our customers and operational challenges and incorporate these issues into technical and service solutions. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with customers in-person is essential for success in this position. In this role, travel or in-person work may be required depending on your client engagement or internal meetings/events.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Lead, mentor, and coach technical teams of 50+ employees with multiple direct reports
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce status reports that are client-facing including project health, consultant and team health, and overall progress against roadmap.
- Monitor and measure velocity and quality of delivery while Identifying and escalating risks
- Review the finances and delivery operations for assigned projects and/or account(s) including project profitability and financial predictability.
- Ensure team is operating at standards that provide predictability (story quality, task assignments, status management, burndown accuracy, etc.)
- Guide teams to deliver projects using the appropriate agile project management methodologies:
- Participate and drive steering meetings as required with client executives using clear and polished communication/presentation skills.
- Interface with other Nortal geographies and manage communication across different time zones.
- Build long term team capabilities, increasing transparency and trust, and helping resolve conflicts, with motivation through autonomy, mastery and purpose.
- Travel or in-person work may be required depending on your client engagement or internal meetings/events
- Lead a collaborative and dynamic delivery process, including risk mitigation strategies and financial tracking.
- Guide team(s) through sprint planning meetings by using the project mission, scope, and delivery schedule.
- Leverage product development knowledge to influence roadmaps and successfully engage at a programmatic level.
- Help drive agile ceremonies and practices for both our team(s) and the client resources (in case a scrum master is not effective)
- Communicate objectively and provide practical and sound advice to stakeholders
- Produce quarterly business review materials and be able to report specific data points of projects (budget, efficiency, velocity, etc.)
- Develop strong relationships with key vendors, external partners and manage vendor performance.
- Provide performance reviews, training guidance, and make hiring decisions.
- Recognize risks posed by product development onto our Nortal team and successfully negotiate alternatives.
Required Skills and Abilities
● Highly developed customer relations and service skills including the ability to effectively build relationships quickly and work in a collaborative manner with people at all levels.
● Excellent written and documentation-oriented skills while demonstrating an organized work style
● Deep understanding of technical software delivery.
● Job duties are varied and complex thus requiring independent judgment, collaboration, and leadership.
● Manage client expectations and be able to have difficult conversations with diplomacy.
Education and Experience
● 10+ years of people management experience.
● 10+ years of technical delivery experience.
● 5+ years of sales engineering experience.
● Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science or related field highly desired.
● Consulting industry experience is required.
● Strong distributed delivery experience across multiple regions and time zones.
● Strong experience with delivering fixed-scoped projects including prior project management experience.
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
