OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a dynamic institution that strives to serve its diverse student population through innovations in instruction and student support founded on principles of equity and inclusivity-both in the credit and noncredit arenas. The successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in making decisions, but is expected to promote the environment of collaboration, support, and shared leadership of the division and the College.
First and foremost, the Dean of Workforce Engagement serves as an instructional leader focused on the growth and development of both students and faculty/instructors to help students achieve economic and social mobility. The Dean leads academic efforts for workforce partnerships along with building and strengthening partnerships with business and industry to meet market demand. The Dean will work with the Academic Success Executive Council in the development of new credit and noncredit programs in accordance with the mission and vision of the Community College of Aurora. The Dean is responsible for the organizational leadership of all assigned instructional departments and academic operations and must focus on issues of equity and access to provide educational opportunities.
The Dean is responsible for establishing coordination, consistency, and strong relationships with departments across the College and for creating systems to sustain academic quality and rigor.
The Dean balances the needs of departments and their leadership with the larger goals of the College strategic plan, paying particular attention to increasing student retention, completion, transfer, and employment. The Dean demonstrates a leadership and management style that creates an atmosphere of support, motivation, inclusion, and innovation among departments and directors through utilization of strong interpersonal and communication skills. The Dean maintains consistency in the application of the College's strategic plan at the program level by collaborating with departments and creating efficient systems with input from all stakeholders.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
The Dean is responsible for administering oversight for assigned programs by carrying out duties as delineated below:
  • Model an appreciation of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all initiatives.
  • Lead innovative efforts and initiate partnerships with business and industry across the College service area to address workforce needs.
  • Respond appropriately and equitably to stakeholder concerns, including students and other institutions of higher education.
  • Develop the budget, manage operations, and provide oversight to maximize fiscal, physical, and personnel resources.
  • Serve on College committees including, Academic Success Instructional Council, Cabinet, College Leadership, and various other internal and external committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Foster partnerships with both internal and external constituencies to communicate and coordinate strategies that support instructional goals.
  • Lead evaluation and improvement of existing programs in alignment with industry needs, community demand, and for credit offerings.
  • Collaborate with other institutions of higher education to design and implement responsive programming intended to reduce the burden on business and industry.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support programs in a manner that promotes excellence in instruction, equity, inclusion, and service at the College.
  • Provide leadership in academic long-range planning and employ effective enrollment management, retention, and equity-minded strategies for credit and noncredit offerings.
  • Responsible for the leadership, visioning, and administrative oversight of assigned instructional programs (both credit and noncredit), academic program development, and personnel.
  • Provide leadership in curriculum design, course quality assurance, and assessment of student learning consistent with division and college goals.
  • Lead ongoing improvements in student achievement through formal content, program, and institutional assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty/instructors and staff to establish and strengthen a culturally responsive, learner-centered educational environment.
  • Lead instructional efforts toward achieving College goals by upholding and promoting College values and mission.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum and program development at the post-secondary level (either credit or non-credit programs).
  • Demonstrated commitment to increasing access for traditionally underrepresented populations and experience with incorporating equity and inclusion in leadership roles.
  • Evidence of ability to develop successful partnerships.
  • Community College teaching experience.
  • Master's degree in business, management, finance, or business administration.
  • Demonstrated experience with resource management and grants.
  • Administrative and supervisory experience at the post-secondary level.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic and operational planning, budget and resource management including meeting program accreditation standards and faculty credentialing.
  • Experience overseeing and delivering coursework both in the credit and noncredit arenas.
  • Experience having lead and overseeing grant work-including reporting.


Supplemental information
Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $95,000.00-$100,000.00. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
