Job Summary


Reporting to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, the Dean of Students serves as the college¿s point of contact for all student conduct matters, chair of the behavior intervention team, and senior leader within the Division of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Grizzlies Helping Grizzlies emergency assistance fund and emergency housing process.
  • Chair the Grizzly Care Team and maintain a working knowledge of behavior intervention teams and threat assessment and provide case management services for students in distress including initial evaluation and immediate and long-term assistance/referrals.
  • Supervise the college's Absence Request Process; represent the Associate Provost for Student Affairs as necessary; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise multiple departments within the Division of Student Affairs including: Dean of Students, Disability Services, and Student Integrity; Serve in on-call emergency and crisis duty rotation.
  • Assist in training and consulting with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders on a wide variety of issues of concern.
  • Assist in maintaining a campus culture which promotes the concept of holistic student development and success.
  • Advocate on behalf of students and foster collaborative relationships among students, faculty and staff.
  • Serve as point of contact for crises and student emergencies, and the development, implementation, and oversight of protocol of emergency services for students.
  • Serve as point of contact for student conduct, leading educational conduct and disciplinary processes and practices grounded in student development theory.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years serving as a leader in conduct and crisis response work.
  • Doctoral Degree
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse environment.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible administrative leadership experience in student affairs/student development in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a growth environment is strongly preferred.
  • Budget management experience.

  • The ability to project a strong positive image of the College through public speaking.
  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills including proven attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to a changing organizational environment is a critical key to success.
  • Requires excellent leadership ability.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills; including demonstrated ability to build consensus and establish trust; outgoing personality.
