Data Visualization Analyst Ii

OVERVIEW:
Works under supervision to develop descriptive visuals that will enable the business to make data informed decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Under direct mentorship of more experienced team members, create descriptive reporting using appropriate visuals that will identify trends and outliers to support business insights.
• Develop knowledge of business and technical metadata to support visualization work.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
• Use established templates, standards and themes to create uniform sets of visuals for a given audience with guidance from more experienced team members.
• Navigate and publish BI dashboards/reports after review by more experienced team members.
• Leverage one Business Intelligence (BI) platform to populate basic charts, graphs and other visuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Basic knowledge of data visualization approaches
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years related experience
• Tactical experience with a minimum of one data visualization tool
• Experience developing basic dashboards/reports and data visualizations

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

• Proven design experience across fields such as data, user experience, and/or graphics
• Knowledge of data management concepts and terminology
• Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) to analyze, extract, and transform data
• Certification in a data visualization tool
• Tactical experience with multiple data visualization tools
