Our South County team located in the heart of downtown Delray Beach, also known as the Village by the Sea, is seeking a highly motivated individual as a Data Entry Clerk in the Criminal department!
In this exciting role, you have the opportunity to gain the knowledge and understanding of criminal related subject matter. You will learn case creation, how to docket a variety of different court documents, schedule court hearings and more! Learning these important functions will allow you to build a strong foundation for future career growth in our office!
This position is eligible for a one dollar per hour stipend which has already been added to the salary advertised. The one dollar per hour stipend will be awarded upon completion of the introductory period. The stipend will no longer apply should the employee transfer out of this position.

- Screens indigency applications; determines whether to grant, deny, or refer to the Court.
- Prepares court event forms for court sessions; prepares notice of bond forfeitures; processes written orders; records bookings; sets court hearings and notice parties.
- Adds and updates party/attorney information in the system; updates case status.
- Performs clerical work in the collections and accounting of unpaid financial obligations and delinquent accounts.
- Screens filings to facilitate redaction of qualifying information and transmission for eRecording.
- Processes Judicial reassignments/recusals; updates system; issues notice of reassignment; notifies newly assigned Judge and parties/counsel of the change.
- Processes car, personal property bonds, surety bonds and cash appearance bonds; screens paperwork for sufficiency; issues bond forfeiture judgments; issues certificates and certified copies.
- Processes new cases, including multiple case types and transfers from other courts/venues; assigns case types; indexes parties and associating attorneys; handles specialized processes/procedures.
- Processes registry and bond disbursements; determines disbursement amounts and recipients; generates disbursement requests for approval.
- Balances cashier receipts against transactions entered into applicable systems (e.g., CMS, Official Records and MyFlorida); works with cashier and management team to investigate discrepancies; reconciles total receipts in all applicable systems at the department level; prepares daily bank deposits; prepares reconciliation summary reports and record-keeping packages for department and Clerk’s Accounting; facilitates insufficient funds processing.
- Transfers cases to other courts/venues; collects applicable fees; prepares and transmits record for transfer; issues receipts for transfer to be completed/returned by receiving court/venue.
- Performs complex data entry for docketing functions; creates entry for each document; monitors image for quality and clarity.
- Forwards filings to the Court or the appropriate functional area as warranted.
- Assists customers in person and by phone
- Issues certified copies; processes Clerk issuances; includes Defaults, Writs, Garnishments, Summonses, and Notices/Certificates of various types.
- Processes marriage licenses; generates and issues licenses; performs marriage ceremonies for all customers including same-sex marriages in compliance with Florida Statute 741.212; cashiers related fees; records licenses into the Official Records.
- Issues process, writs and other documents; cashiers related fees.
High school diploma (or GED), supplemented by three (3) years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Some vocational or college courses preferred. Once qualified, deputization may be required to perform the assigned functions.
