Job Description

Compensation: Salary + Benefits + 401k and more!

Hybrid Position: 1-2 days per week onsite in Charlotte Office


Summary:

Our client recently built out their Business Intelligence team, the Data Engineer Team is responsible for providing them with all the organization's data. This group is extremely important to the entire organization to help them make data driven decisions, improve cost saving, and better customer experience. Right now, there are only 2 Data Engineers on the team and due to the company's rapid growth they are looking to add 1 more Data Engineer to the team ASAP.


Day to day Responsibilities:

The Data Engineer will be responsible for gathering data from different systems (POS, ticketing, etc.) and transforming it to their Data Lake in order to make it accessible and suitable for analysis and reporting to the BI team to store in the corporate database.

  • 30% data transformation
  • 20% data governance and validation
  • 25% working with BI team and supplying consumable data sets
  • 15% documentation of the processes above + ETL
  • 5-10% building pipelines (with help of other engineers), maintenance and support as needed, NOT A MUST


Top Skills needed:

  • Experience in AWS: moving and managing data as well as transformation in "Data Lakes"
  • SQL & T-SQL experience for data transformation
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Dbt Cloud experience: used to modify and transform data within Snowflake (Snowflake is their database of choice but experience with other databases is ok)
  • Experience with data visualization tools for documentation purposes (Qlik is a nice to have)


Team Structure

  • 2 DBA’s
  • Currently 2 data engineers on the team who manage data warehousing and support. One FTE and one contractor.
  • 1 Data Analyst and 1 Data Developer who work on ad hoc DBA reports and query building
  • This new hire Data Engineer will work closely with the whole team, especially with the (Sr. Data Engineer) but will report directly to the Director of Application Development, Business Intelligence.
