How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Proactively communicate data center availability risks to DCI leadership.
  • Use sophisticated data capture, monitoring and recording equipment to analyze data; make timely and effective decisions; provide findings and proposals to leadership and implement aligned upon solutions.
  • Provide proactive participation and engagement with leadership in order to coordinate, establish workflow deliveries and/or on-site staffing priorities/needs.
  • Cross-train and/or mentor technicians and peers in relevant skills to support succession planning and skills development.
  • Perform and deliver monitoring, advanced level forensics, issue resolution, performance-based testing, system configurations and long-range planning across facility infrastructure and systems. Apply industry terminology, trends and methodologies related to physical layers of facility design.
  • 3rd party vendor/cross-vendor over-sight and engagement
  • Install, terminate and install equipment and cabling while working in proximity to hazardous electrical voltages and without interrupting adjacent business critical connections.
  • Lead internal and vendor resources while completing and monitoring workflow queues.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance detailed installation and preventative maintenance procedures, operational training program and evaluation criteria while maintaining program integrity and confidentiality. Apply expertise and experience to analyze various data center component and system configurations to optimize performance; providing research findings and recommendations to leadership for review/alignment prior to implementation.
  • Provide 7x24 on-call, rotational support during facility/site emergency response related events if/when needed/required.
  • Support critical data center tool calibration program and inventory/asset management system
  • Support, maintain and enhance Building Management System, EPMS and BCMS applications, PLC, building automation and controls, networking hardware, fire alarm, fuel oil systems, lighting controls, computer room air handling units, uninterruptible power supply units, power distribution units, remote power panels, circuit breakers, switchgear, grey water, gas systems, mechanical air and chilled water systems’ devices and sensors (e.g. – variable frequency drives, temperature, dew point, humidity, pressure, radar level, monitors, air and water flow meters, valves, etc.), microprocessor, integrated circuits, and relay logic and a variety of data center software platforms/configurations.
  • Examine failures for trends and factors of failure, developing and/or performing corrective actions independently. Identify root cause, conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
  • Support leaders in designing, implementing and monitoring compliance across aligned upon policy, standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or AAS
  • 1 + year of experience with the following systems: engine generators, paralleling switchgear, centrifugal chillers, chilled water production, HVAC mechanical and plumbing systems, UPS systems and batteries, complex electrical distribution systems (e.g. – 12.47kV, 5kV, 575V or 480V switchgear, DC distribution systems, static and automatic transfer switches and schemes), air handlers, compressors, underground storage facilities for diesel and/or water systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge and proven experience with cabling standards and quality practices.
  • General working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite desktop applications.
  • Previous experience as DCI Technician or equivalent.
  • Certification and/or equivalent experience in associated data center environment, e.g. - electrical, electronics, mechanical, data processing hardware, telecommunications and/or networks.
  • Proven experience in Tier III-IV data center environments working with electrical and mechanical plant operations, including conceptual knowledge of the interaction between multiple, large systems and the potential impact of minor changes in any of those systems.
  • System/platform domain knowledge.
  • Intermediate knowledge of critical facility and data processing-based systems/equipment with analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Salary Range: $28.85 to $48.10 hourly + bonus + benefits
