Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has a Data Analyst 1 opportunity available within our IT Informatics - Strategy, Planning and Delivery group.

About The Role

The Data Analyst 1 (DA1) role works on one or more projects/issues/enhancements. The DA1 assists in the development of data standards, policies and procedures and works closely with other IT groups to use the data models throughout the whole life cycle.

In This Data Analyst 1 Opportunity, You Will

• Follow data profiling and preventative procedures to improve data quality. Create data quality metrics for identifying data related issues. Collaborate with multiple teams to establish appropriate data access management.
• Collaborate with data architects to design the common customer view of information. Support creation and implementation of detailed specifications for various IT projects / solutions. Document and maintain all data definitions, data sources, business meaning and usage of information. Participate in development of single source data strategy. Understand internal and external data sources for new data and better sources of data feeds.
• Understand solutions and recommendations for improving data integrity issues.
• Work with IT teams to ensure compliance. Perform regular audits of data.
• Ensure technical documentation is developed and maintained.
• Understand the framework for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes.
• Support in the development of short- and long-term solutions of information architecture strategies.

"Qualifications"

Education And/Or Experience

• One (1) year IT work experience and knowledge of data quality assurance, data analysis, and data modeling required.
• Expertise with data quality tools for data profiling, cleansing and standardization preferred.
• Experience in Healthcare domain is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

• Understand the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations.
• Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
• Written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
• Understand logical database design principles.
• Some accounting / business financial understanding is preferred.
• Analytical thinking; accuracy and attention to detail skills.
