Job Summary:
Analyzes data/information from one or multiple sources to conduct preparation of the environment, respond to requests for information, and submit intelligence collection and production requirements in support of planning and operations. Also, oversight of day-to-day system monitoring, compliance, and data analysis of the agency’s assets. Cybersecurity Analyst 1 is trained and experienced in meeting security needs of the agency and its employees in multiple locations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides subject matter expertise to the development of cyber operations.
- Assists in administering vulnerability management program by conducting in-depth research and analysis on current threats and network vulnerabilities.
- Assisting Technology team by using tools and other security technology to detect risk, identify security controls protecting information system assets and document the implementation of controls.
- Administers, monitors, and reports on security information and event management and other log event sources.
- Monitors, gathers, and reports on threat intelligence from a range of sources for emerging cyber-threats.
- Assists in the production of timely cyber operations intelligence and/or indications and warnings intelligence products.
- Assists and documents daily cybersecurity operations.
- Monitors firewalls and other defensive cybersecurity measures.
- Assists with security assessments for operations planning.
- Assists with incident response plans and performs incident response activities.
- Involved in administering security awareness training and testing of cyber threats.
- Communicate status of agency information security posture to CIO.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Information Security or related field or equivalent experience AND Three years of proven experience and demonstrated success in technology leadership with emphasis on information security and data governance AND Currently holds an entry level cyber certification per state guidelines or achieves within 12 months of start date: (SEC+, NET+, Linux+, MTA, GISF*) *any GIAC entry level certification accepted AND Must hold or be able to qualify for a US Department of Homeland Security (OHS) clearance
Required Competencies:
- 1+ year hands-on experience performing SIEM event analysis.
- Understand the core concepts of information security and cyber risks.
- Understanding of vulnerabilities to systems and software.
- Experience with investigating common types of attacks; network packet analysis; log analysis and reviewing security events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of firewall technology, network switching, and protocols
- Understanding of cloud security
- Understanding of security frameworks
- CompTIA Security+
- Associate of (ISC) 2
