Team Introduction
The Security Tools Operations team within the Global Security Organization is responsible for the operations, facilitating engineering enhancements, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of various technologies across the security stack. As a direct report to the Principal Security Operations Engineer within the Security Tools Operations team, you will be a part of the team responsible for Enterprise Defense Operations and Platform Management, Hosting Platform Defense Operations, and Global Security Technology Operations. The Security Tools Operations team's primary focus is management of security and defense platforms, technologies, tools, and services supporting security controls across TikTok's environments. As the Security Tools Operations Intern, you will be responsible for supporting a team of cross-functional cyber, privacy, and data protection engineers, architects, and analysts to deploy, integrate, and manage, technologies to support the security and protection of data in accordance with relevant geographical regulations, contractual commitments, and confidentiality requirements.

Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 2024. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship cycles below:
1.May 20, 2024 to August 9, 2024
2.May 27, 2024 to August 16, 2024
3.June 10, 2024 to August 30, 2024

Responsibilities
Support the Security Tools Operations team in the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of security tools and technologies. Assignments may include:

• Support with reviewing and investigating alerts generated from security tools and escalate as appropriate.
• Assist in building technical and functional requirements to configure and deploy security tools and technologies.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and trainings for each technology.
• Architect and continuously improve security technology stack, process and procedures, support model and cross-function interactions.
• Help define procedures to validate the effectiveness of the design, deployment, and management of security controls that aim to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of security technology stack.
• Support with developing and reporting security tool coverage metrics and remediation plans.
• Partner across the Security Operations team to respond to cybersecurity incidents.

Qualifications

• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2024.
• Experience using one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, etc.).
• Familiarity with source code management tools (e.g., Github, Bitbucket).
• Have a deep interest in pursuing a career in security or risk including vulnerability assessment, intrusion/ threat detection, digital investigations, mobile device management, log analysis, identity and access management, monitoring, endpoint security, security compliance and control and security advocacy.
• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master degree in Computer Science, Cyber or Information Security, Data Science, Information Technology, Risk Management or related field.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduating December 2024 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
• Self-motivated, strong organization skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communications skills; including writing and verbal for a variety of audiences.

Job Information
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $30- $30. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.
