Cyber Security Specialist

You will assist in the development and implementation of policy and procedures that ensure information systems reliability and accessibility.

You will be tasked to secure, defend, and preserve data, networks, net-centric capabilities, and other designated systems by ensuring appropriate security controls and measures are in place, and taking internal defense actions.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance and maintain a valid Passport.

This includes:

• Monitoring, administration, and integration of cybersecurity into all aspects of engineering and acquisition of cyberspace capabilities via the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), and/or IT Policy and Planning manager.
• Communicating the value of IT security throughout all levels of the organization’s stakeholders.
• Collaborating with organizational managers to support organizational cybersecurity objectives.
• Advising senior management (e.g., CIO, ISSM, Policy and Planning Manager, etc.) on risk levels and security posture.
• Access to system controls
• Preparing, distributing, and maintaining plans, instructions, guidance, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the IT risk management, security, and contingency planning programs and duties and functions listed below. These positions have been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area (specialty area code 46 or 54 with Microsoft computing environment) and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
• Ensuring security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.
• Serving in a cyber security support function to include researching, drafting, developing, and submitting solutions for IA/IT policies, guideline, and standard operating procedures.

• Continuity of Operations Plans.
• Designing and developing IA or IA-enabled tools.
• Managing alignment of IT security priorities with the organization’s security strategy.
• Establishing overall enterprise information security architecture (EISA) with the organization’s overall security strategy and compliance.
• Assisting with the preparation and decision execution of both Change Management and Change Control Boards.
• Recommending cybersecurity policies and coordinate review and approval.
• Ensuring all acquisitions, procurements, and outsourcing efforts address information security requirements consistent with organization goals.
• Forecasting ongoing service demands and ensuring security assumptions are reviewed, as necessary.
• Identifying alternative information security strategies to address organizational security objective.
• Providing enterprise information assurance (IA) and supply chain risk management guidance for development of the
