What does the Custodian do?

The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Empty all wastebaskets and garbage cans
  • Clean break room sinks and counters
  • Clean walls and toilet partitions
  • Clean, wash and disinfect drinking fountains
  • Cleans offices, meeting chambers, and recreational facilities
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers, and fixtures
  • Clean all mirrors.
  • Place garbage in the outside storage bin
  • Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed
  • Dust all furniture and fixture as required
  • Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors, and hardware
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Wash and buff floors with the floor polisher
  • Keep the outside area near the exit and entrance clear of snow, cans, paper and etc.
  • Report damages and acts of vandalism
  • Mop tile and concrete floor areas.
  • Wash entrance and exit floors
  • Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware, and glass

What are the Qualifications and Educational Requirements?

High School or better.

What Preferred Knowledge should I possess?

2 years: Custodial Experience

Is a Background Check required for this position?

To perform your job duties effectively, you will need to be able to obtain and maintain access to the military base. This may require security clearance and adherence to base access procedures. You will be required to submit to a background check during your length of employment as dictated by the contract. This background check is necessary to ensure that you meet the current contract eligibility requirements for the position. In addition to the background check, you must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes. These screening processes are designed to ensure that you are qualified and eligible to work in the position and that you will maintain a safe and productive work environment. It is important to note that failure to pass the required criminal and drug screenings may result in the termination of your employment. Therefore, it is crucial that you are honest and upfront about any potential issues or concerns that may arise during these screening processes. Overall, maintaining a clean record and adhering to the company's drug policies are crucial to being successful and maintaining your eligibility for the position.

Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance. Must be able to pass CI polygraph.


What my Physical Demands would be?
The Quality Control Coordinator is a physically demanding position. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The Incumbent is frequently required to use their hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects tools, or controls. The incumbent must spend the entire time at work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium-weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, and moving desks and furniture. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions.

Note: Operating floor polishers and waxing equipment are particularly hard on back muscles.


The incumbent must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations will be made.
