Job Description

Job Summary

Internship opportunity with the Communications & Signals Network Operations Center (C&S NOC). The intern must have a passion for technology, collaboration and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. This program is a paid 9 month internship based in Jacksonville, FL.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Data analysis
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  • Support the Wayside Log Retrieval Project for Core Communications Equipment
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support
  • Lead research on using Application Programming Interface from Satellite application to capture logs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale)
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution require in Electronics/Electronic Trades, Electrical Engineering, or related major field of study with 1 or more years of Non-supervisory experience required in Telecommunications Systems, Programming/Script Writing, Computers or Networking OR High school diploma/GED equivalent from an accredited institution required in Computers or Networking with 3 or more years of Non-supervisory experience required in Telecommunications Systems, Programming/Script Writing, Computer or Networking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5 or more years of Non-Supervisory experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Microsoft Certified Engineer (MSCE) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences
  • Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory standards
  • Analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage assignments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) skills such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships at all levels of an organization

  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non- standard workweek)
