Benefits to you
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first two steps of the salary range. We also offer a 5% annual increase to all limited duration and regular status employees.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $22.51 - $34.93.
  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
Position Highlights
The
Multnomah County Circuit Court
in Portland, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Data Entry Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join our team in the Criminal Data Entry/Warrant unit.
In this role, you will help process new criminal cases in the case management system by entering miscellaneous papers, orders, indictments, complaints, appeals, mandates, motions, petitions and waivers, and warrants on most felony, misdemeanor, violation, and traffic cases. You will also create sentencing judgments for these cases, which includes processing and entering financial information.
You will interact, in person, over the phone, and in writing, with judges, court staff, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, parties to cases, and the public. Part of your time will be spent sorting and preparing documents for scanning and maintaining case calendars. The supervisor or lead worker will occasionally assign you additional tasks as needed.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent
AND
At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents
OR
Any combination of
education and experience
equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience providing customer service in high-volume setting, where there is noise, distraction, and customers who may be confused, upset, or stressed.
  • Experience using a computer in a workplace setting for data entry, document creation, and performing a variety of tasks, and using more than one software program at a time to complete tasks.
  • Ability to recognize and safeguard confidential, controversial, or sensitive information.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and applying laws, regulations, rules, procedures, and processes.
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds and with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Long periods of sitting at a desk or standing at a counter may be required.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Parking
Multnomah County Circuit Court does not provide parking for courthouse or justice center staff. Flexible spending accounts are available to reimburse parking or transportation costs up to a certain amount each month, if staff elect to have these funds held from their monthly paycheck.
Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
