The Supreme Court in Olympia, Washington would like to bring to your attention an exciting and unique opportunity. We are seeking to fill the new Court Administrator position at the Supreme Court.
Because this is a new position, we are looking for an innovative and independent person, willing to learn about the current administrative structure of the Court and engage in long-term planning for the future administration of the Court. This includes long-term personnel planning and coordinating staff-led diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. The Court Administrator should understand and share the Supreme Court’s commitment to ending systemic racism as expressed in the Court’s open letter to the public dated June 4, 2020.
The Court Administrator will work extensively with the Justices and court staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with internal customer service and approach those interactions with openness and clear communication. The Supreme Court is made up of a hard-working, dedicated and collaborative group of professionals and the ideal candidate will contribute to that positive team environment.
The Court Administrator will take a leading role on facilities issues, including coordinating efforts in mid to late 2024 to move the Supreme Court from its temporary facility in Tumwater, Washington, to the Temple of Justice on the Capitol Campus in Olympia, Washington.
The Court Administrator reports to the Chief Justice and serves at the pleasure of the Court.

Location
The position is located at the Supreme Court’s temporary facility in Tumwater, Washington. The job can be done partially remotely but will require substantial time in-person each week. Interviews may be conducted via Zoom.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, public policy, public administration or law
- Demonstrable knowledge of the history of discrimination in America, particularly as it relates to race and racism, and how this history has led to disparities experienced by marginalized communities such as BIPOC, people with disabilities, native peoples, LGBTQ+ communities, and others
- At least five years of progressively responsible management experience in a court, legal or similar environment
- Experience with strategic planning
- Knowledge of the legal system
- Certified Court Executive (CCE) Certification
- Experience working with judges, elected officials or high-level executives or directors
- Experience administering a Court at any level
- Certified Court Manager (CCM) Certification
