The Coordinator of Event Operations & Fan Experience provides oversight of the day-to-day and game day management of assigned athletic events, serves as athletics department liaison for all athletic event partners, and serves as site manager for assigned Southern Conference Championships and NCAA postseason competitions hosted by UTC.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Tournament Director for Southern Conference Tournaments
  • Organizes, directs, coordinates, evaluates, and schedules part-time workers and 3rd party vendors for game day related duties and responsibilities
  • Priority of UTC events:
  • Plans and develops day-to-day and game day management strategies for assigned athletic home contests that focus on heightened fan experience and provides premier customer service
  • Serves as Athletics Department liaison for all athletic event partners
  • Implements and executes day-to-day and game day management strategies for assigned UTC events

Fall: Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, M/W Tennis & Football

Winter: Wrestling, W Basketball, M Basketball

Spring: Softball, Beach Volleyball & M/W Tennis

  • Serves as coordinator of camps for all sports
  • Performs post-event review and assessment in an effort to improve operations and fan experience
  • Coordinates event schedules for practicum students enrolled in HHP 2120
  • Performs other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience overseeing workers
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds and at various levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Organizational skills to simultaneously manage multiple events and duties
  • Verbal skills to give instruction and clearly explain policy and procedure and to contribute within diverse meeting formats
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally
  • Experience working in collegiate or professional sports operations
  • Knowledge of event equipment, maintenance, and use, including by not limited to scoreboards, PA systems and sport specific equipment
  • Skills to write and accurately maintain and communicate effective records, reports, and correspondence
  • Strategic and operational planning and delivery experience

Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in sport administration, business administration, or related field; one year of experience in intercollegiate athletics/professional sports event management and customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Event and game day management experience in an NCAA Division 1 athletics department; 2+ years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics/professional sports event management and customer service experience working with a wide variety of administrators, coaches, staff, students, and donors to the University are preferred.
